CAST assigned to the CNO-sponsored availability to enhance Ship’s Force ability to improve the material conditions throughout the ship’s life cycle. CAST is a 4-person team comprised of specialists in the areas of Combat Systems (CS), Aircraft Launch and Recovery Equipment (ALRE), Propulsion Plant, and Hull Mechanical and Electrical Systems (HM&E). They have a wealth of maintenance shipyard experience with mitigating scheduling conflicts as well as working knowledge with various shipyard codes and maintenance organization processes. This position is located in Yokosuka, Japan.

What You Will Do

  • Provide technical support for availability planning, execution and development of Ship's Force work packages and overall depot availability work integration and scheduling onboard the Forward Deployed Aircraft Carrier.
  • Prepares and coordinates the plans and schedules for new or existing programs.
  • Determines, monitors, and reviews costs, operational budgets and schedules, and manpower requirements. Supports and participates in negotiations with customer.
  • Analyzes effects of projects upon various areas such as Engineering, Facilities, and the labor pool to determine the most practical and cost-efficient methods to obtain the required resources.
  • Resolves proposal preparation problems and assesses the progress against established plans and parameters. Formulates and recommends corrective action measures such as schedule revisions, manpower adjustments, fund allocations, and work requirements.

What You Must Have

  • 6 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; 4 years relevant experience with Masters in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 10 years relevant experience.
  • Must have strong technical writing ability and proven capability to communicate effectively to all levels of the Chain of Command.

  • Computer skills must include proficiency with Microsoft Office products (Outlook, Word, Excel).

  • Must have a strong background working with shipboard systems. 

  • Must be a US Citizen.

  • Must have a current, active DoD Secret Security Clearance or higher. 

Preferred: Bonus Points For

  • Proficiency in the shipboard Organizational Maintenance Management System (OMMS) – Next Generation (NG) and the shipyard Advanced Industrial Management (AIM) systems.

  • Previous experience working with Combat Systems (CS), Aircraft Launch and Recovery Equipment (ALRE), Propulsion Plants, and/or Hull Mechanical and Electrical Systems (HM&E).

  • Experience at a Public / Private shipyard engaged in CVN maintenance may be substituted for military experience if the minimum experience is met as outlined in the minimum qualifications section.

Physical Requirements

May require working in an office, industrial, shipboard, or laboratory environment. Capable of climbing ladders and tolerating confined spaces and extreme temperature variances.
