Summary

Join our Army Watercraft technical support team, we are looking for skilled marine engineer maintenance technicians to support the U.S. Army Watercraft at Yokohama North Dock. The selected personnel will be performing duties in a mid to senior technician capacity that include engineering, maintenance, and repairs on a variety of SLEP equipment and systems on the Landing Craft Utility (LCU-2000).

 

*This role is contingent upon being awarded the contract. *This role does not provide relocation assistance. 

What You Will Do

  • Provides technical support to include maintenance, repairs, diagnostics, troubleshooting, and other checks and services as required. 
  • Gathers, maintains, formats, compiles, and manipulates technical data, such as laboratory or material test results and engineering design changes.
  • Produces engineering documentation, reports, drawings (flow charts, block diagrams, and schematics).
  • Work with the active duty soldiers on the vessel and use a wide range of tools to complete daily tasks. Provide recommendation as necessary in support of maintenance to SLEP systems.
  • Uses personal computer in performance of analyses and development of documentation/reports.
  • Travel with the vessel as required to support maintenance and repair to SLEP systems.
  • May conduct tests and record data to assist with engineering evaluation or analysis.

What You Must Have

  • Associates degree or other 2 year technical degree in related discipline and 3 years experience; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 5 years related (DoD/USN) experience.
  • Must have hands on experience conducting watercraft maintenance, diagnostics, troubleshooting and repairs to shipboard systems and other associated equipment to include; propulsion, hydraulics, piping, pneumatic, electrical and power generation.
  • Must be able and willing to travel with the vessel or travel to various locations in the region to provide watercraft with maintenance and repair support.
  • Must be able to obtain a DoD secret level clearance and maintain clearance throughout employment.
  • Must be able to obtain base access credentials and maintain credentials throughout employment.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.

Preferred: Bonus points for...

  • Candidates with 88L20/30 transportation school certification or higher are highly desired.
  • A current, valid DoD Secret clearance or higher. 
  • Candidates with hands-on maintenance experience on Landing Craft Utility (LCU-2000) or other US Army watercraft systems highly desired.
  • Prior experience leading and directing hands-on trades teams preferred. 
  • Other non US Army Marine Watercraft systems will be considered for relative experience
  • Experience with Cummins, John Deer, and/or Caterpillar engines a plus.

Physical Requirements

Job performance requires adequate visual acuity and manual dexterity for meeting the requirements of the job. A waterfront office work environment is normally encountered.
