Job Description

Huntington Ingalls Industries (HII) is seeking a qualified candidate for a UAV Test Engineer to support operations at Wright Patterson Air Force Base (WPAFB) in Dayton, OH. This individual will be responsible for the development of real-time hardware-in-the-loop (HITL) simulations


  • Familiarity with UAVs (specifically MQ9 and RQ9)
  • Develop requirement for HITL build-up and customer needs

Essential Job Responsibilities

Performs engineering functions in one or more of the following specialties: electronics, electrical, mechanical, civil, naval, and/or chemical.

Minimum Qualifications

9 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; 7 years relevant experience with Masters in related field; or 4 years relevant experience with PhD or Juris Doctorate in related field.

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science or like discipline (Electrical preferred)
    • HS Degree with 14+ years' engineering experience, Bachelors with 8+ years' engineering experience or Masters with 6+ years of engineering experience
  • Ability to negotiate through conflicting demands for resources and manage time to drive overall organizational success
  • Ability to setup and support HITL test equipment, along with test customer setup including interfacing with data acquisition hardware / instrumentation
  • Develop requirement for HITL build-up and customer needs
  • Familiar with RF and electronic test equipment
  • Good analytical, critical thinking and problem solving skills
  • Experience with one or more programming languages to include C, C++, Qt, MATLAB / Simulink, Python, LabVIEW, and one or more Real Time Operations Systems (RTOS)
  • Support technical & functional leadership through the identification of risk
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a TS/SC security clearance, with enhanced security checks (can begin work with a secret collateral)

Preferred Requirements

  • Ability to do data analysis post-test
  • Experience with LabVIEW/NI and Real-Time Modeling and Simulation software
  • Hands-on design, test integration, and verification support across lab facilities requiring skills in algorithms, software, hardware and networking
