Job Description

HII Mission Technologies Division's Fighters and Advanced Aircraft and Bombers Team seeks a senior-level Software Engineer ready to make an immediate impact in the development and integration of system software modifications on world-class Department of Defense/United States Air Force Fighter and Bomber Aircraft.  The Software Engineer is part of a team providing technical analysis and subject matter expertise to USAF Program Offices.

 

Location: Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Dayton, OH (On-Site)

 

Essential Job Responsibilities

  • Designs, develops, documents, tests and debugs applications software and systems that contain logical and mathematical solutions
  • Conducts multidisciplinary research and collaborates with equipment designers and/or hardware engineers in the planning, design, development, and utilization of electronic data processing systems
  • Determines system user needs:  analyzes system capabilities to resolve problems on program intent, output requirements, input data acquisition, programming techniques and controls
  • Prepares operating instructions:  designs and develops compilers and assemblers, utility programs, and operating systems
  • Ensures software standards are met

Minimum Qualifications

 

  • 9 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; 7 years relevant experience with Masters in related field; 4 years relevant experience with PhD in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 13 years relevant experience.
    • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, or another software development-related discipline plus 9 years relevant experience; or
    • Master’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, or another software development-related discipline plus 7 years relevant experience
  • Relevant experience is defined as performance of software-related activities on a Department of Defense system or on Communications, Navigation, or other aircraft system
  • Secret-level security clearance minimum at the time of application with the ability to obtain a TS-level security clearance
  • The candidate must be self-motivated, able to work in a team, willing to learn new concepts and processes, and able to take constructive criticism and adapt/learn from mistakes
  • The candidate must be able to work independently, and in a team, to create quality products on time
  • Must have strong analytical skills and the ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing with internal and external customers
  • The candidate must be proficient in the use of Microsoft Office products such as Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

Physical Requirements

Work will primarily be performed in an office setting sitting at a computer workstation or conference room. Occasional travel to equipment manufacturers facilities and weapon system user facilities may be required.
