Job Description

HII is seeking an experienced T&E professional to join a rapidly growing organization supporting T&E across the Department of Defense (DoD) and Homeland Security (HS).

 

What do we do?

Huntington Ingalls Industries (HII) is seeking an Applied Research Lead to support the Scientific Test and Analysis Techniques Center of Excellence (STAT COE), located at Air Force Institute of Technology (AFIT) at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio. This position is in Dayton, OH.

 

This is a technical leader position on a dynamic team: we integrate with test teams and develop test strategies, rigorous test designs, and support analysis for complex systems. We are at the forefront of applying advanced statistical techniques to T&E and are constantly exploring new methodologies. Your desire to continually improve and self-educate is a must to succeed in this dynamic work environment.

Essential Job Responsibilities

  • Center of Excellence leadership role (1 of three supervisors) responsible for all applied research. In this role you will:
    • Manage all project planning, execution, and personnel
    • Develop customer kick-off briefs, oversee daily execution, provide routine status
    • Identify and mitigate performance and scope risk
    • Apply technical skills to applied research problems and mentor team members
    • Manage all team deliverables
  • Respond to Director tasking in support of Center initiatives 
  • Conduct strategic planning to manage funding pipelines and staffing 
  • Identify potential new funding sources and manage contact with sponsors 
  • Create/lead briefings for senior leadership (SES, Flag Officer) 
  • Coordinate personnel assignments with other supervisors
  • Suggest topics for conference presentations/best practices/case studies to STAT Experts
  • Support new employee onboarding through training and familiarization

Minimum Qualifications

  • 5 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; 3 years relevant experience with Masters in related field; 0 years experience with PhD in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 9 years relevant experience.
  • Master’s degree in engineering, statistics, applied math, operations research, or similar
  • Practical Department of Defense or Homeland Security T&E experience
  • Ability to obtain a TOP SECRET clearance
  • US Citizen

Preferred Requirements

  • PhD in stats, applied math, industrial engineering, ops research, engineering or similar
  • 8 years practical and related experience in DoD or HS T&E
  • Active SECRET clearance
