This opportunity resides with All-Domain Operations (ADO), a business group within HII’s Mission Technologies division. All-Domain Operations comprises multi-domain operations, platforms and logistics, and intelligence operations.
HII designs, develops, integrates and manages the sensors, systems and other assets necessary to support integrated ISR operations and accelerated decision-making. Who We Are
HII – Mission Technologies is seeking a Software Quality Engineer. The Software Quality Engineer provides expert guidance on automation frameworks, testing standards, and quality‑assurance best practices to ensure consistent and effective software testing across projects. This role balances automated and manual testing methodologies to validate performance, functionality, and overall quality throughout the product lifecycle. The engineer designs performance‑testing infrastructure, develops performance‑strategy plans, supports metric and analysis documentation, and participates in product validation and acceptance efforts. Additional responsibilities include reviewing existing automation, debugging software issues, producing required documentation, coaching teams on testing standards, and applying modern development practices such as Agile, DevOps, and DevSecOps.
This requisition supports hiring at multiple experience levels. Final placement will be determined based on the selected applicant’s qualifications, experience, and skill sets.

What You Will Do
- Provide guidance on automation frameworks and testing standards to promote consistent, high‑quality automated and manual testing practices.
- Design, develop, and maintain performance‑testing infrastructure and create performance‑strategy plans in coordination with cross‑functional teams.
- Support teams by generating metrics, analysis artifacts, and performance‑related documentation.
- Participate in validation and acceptance phases of the product lifecycle, ensuring products are fine‑tuned for release.
- Produce required software documentation and maintain quality‑management artifacts throughout the project lifecycle.
- Debug and troubleshoot software issues to support end‑users and ensure system stability.
- Review and audit existing test automation—internal and from onshore/offshore providers—including code quality, architecture, frameworks, tools, test steps, and verification points.
- Incorporate software‑development best practices including Agile methodologies, DevOps, and DevSecOps principles.
- Maintain a strong partnership with development teams to ensure quality is embedded throughout the entire development and deployment process.
What We Are Looking For
- Level 2: 2 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; 0 years experience with Masters in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 6 years relevant experience.
- Level 3: 5 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; 3 years relevant experience with Masters in related field; 0 years experience with PhD or Juris Doctorate in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 9 years relevant experience.
- Level 4: 9 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; 7 years relevant experience with Masters in related field; 4 years relevant experience with PhD or Juris Doctorate in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 13 years relevant experience.
- Experience with software‑quality engineering, automated testing frameworks, and manual testing practices.
- Strong knowledge of performance‑testing tools, design principles, and testing infrastructure.
- Experience developing performance strategies, metrics, and analysis documentation.
- Ability to review, evaluate, and audit automated testing solutions, including code quality and architectural decisions.
- Proficiency in debugging and troubleshooting software issues.
- Knowledge of Agile, DevOps, and DevSecOps methodologies and their application to testing and quality assurance.
- Experience producing and maintaining software documentation and quality‑management materials.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with the ability to evaluate test coverage, identify gaps, and recommend improvements.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with experience working with cross‑functional technical teams.
- Ability to multitask, prioritize activities, and manage quality processes throughout the product lifecycle.
- Clearance: Must possess and maintain a Top-Secret clearance.
