Job Description

Mission Technologies, a division of HII, is seeking a motivated Senior Software Engineer with expertise in Apple iOS and web development to design, integrate, and deploy mission-critical software for the U-2 Dragon Lady's advanced Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR) systems.

 

  • Core Role: Develop and maintain applications that translate terabytes of raw sensor data from 70,000 feet into actionable, near-real-time intelligence for critical operations.

  • Key Focus: Assist in the development of flight data applications incorporating weather, aircraft status, hazard information, notes, and logs for the U-2 platform.

  • Impact: Your code directly enables rapid data-to-decision cycles, ensuring air superiority and mission success.

  • Location: Can work remotely if not in the Warner Robbins, GA area of operation.

  • Requirement: Must possess the ability to obtain a US Secret clearance.

Your Mission Focus

Designs, develops, tests, and deploys high-performance, scalable back-end services for the mission-critical U-2 SaaS platform, serving diverse clients including web browsers (Ops Desk), iPads (Ops Buddy), and large displays (Dragon Board).

 

  • Focus on Cloud Development: Build and maintain the core back-end using JavaScript/TypeScript and the Express framework, running in the NodeJS environment and deployed via Docker containers in the cloud.

  • API Development: Define and manage service APIs using Swagger/Open API for consumption by all React and Apple iOS client applications.

  • Data Management: Implement robust data storage and retrieval logic using Mongoose with MongoDB.

  • Mission Support: Analyze user needs and system capabilities to deliver real-time information on aircraft, air crews, weather, airfields, and environmental hazards to flight crew and mission planners.

  • Collaboration & Standards: Conduct system analysis, prepare operating instructions, and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure software and security standards are met.

Minimum Qualifications

  • 5 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; 3 years relevant experience with Masters in related field; 0 years experience with PhD or Juris Doctorate in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 9 years relevant experience.
  • Experience in Apple iOS or NodeJS development stack 
  • Experience in React web development (React, Express, Swagger/OpenAPI, MongoDB, and Mongoose) 
  • Must possess the ability to obtain and maintain a US level Secret clearance 

Preferred Requirements

  • Experience with Zero Trust Architecture & Okta
  • U-2 & DCGS experience for potential future projects
  • An active Secret clearance 

Physical Requirements

Adequate visual acuity and manual dexterity for meeting the requirements Software Engineer family.
