Position Summary

Huntington Ingalls Industries (HII) has an opportunity available for Program Manager located at our Warner Robins office. The PM will manage developed or developing program(s) and will develop, modify, and manage program plans, schedules, and budgetary requirements.
 
Programs frequently serve multiple customers at multiple locations and represent multiple product lines and/or support services. Several business functions (such as engineering, tech data development, prototyping, testing, and manufacturing) are represented by the employees assigned to the program. Programs involve all phases and functions of Program Management to include, but not limited to, personnel management, financial management, schedule management, sub-contractor management, capture management and other program related functions.

What you will do

 

  • Responsible for the cost, schedule, and technical performance of the company on assigned program or programs from inception through completion.  
  • Manage technical and administrative staff and provides ongoing direction in the performance of the assigned program. 
  • Develop and monitor program plan including time and cost estimates, and ensures project outputs are delivered on schedule and within funding. 
  • Establish milestones and monitor adherence to program plan and schedule, identify program problems, and obtain solutions, such as allocation of resources or changing contractual specifications.
  • Prioritize workload and determine staffing levels and any adjustments in staffing.  Maintain a staffing level to ensure technical quality and appropriate experience levels are consistent with current and projected project activities.
  • Review reports and briefings prepared by technical staff for quality.
  • Lead technical discussions for project reviews. Prepare and deliver formal briefings.
  • Ensure that appropriate training is delivered to program staff.
  • Establish and maintain effective relationships with customer and other outside agencies.
  • Acts as primary customer contact for program activities.  Regularly meet with and update the customer on project status.  Lead program review sessions with customer to discuss cost, schedule, and technical performance.  
  • Develop new business or expands business with the customer.  Coordinate preparation of proposals, business plans, proposal work statements and specifications, operating budgets, and financial terms/conditions of contract. Participate in negotiating contract and contract changes.
  • Comply with quality assurance and security procedures in the performance of duties. 

What we are looking for

 

  • 4 years relevant progressive experience with Bachelors in related field; 2 years relevant progressive experience with Masters in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 8 years relevant progressive experience.
  • Technical program management experience.
  • Strong customer service orientation.
  • Excellent communication, presentation and interpersonal skills.

Physical Requirements

 

  • May be required to visit job site in an industrial or shipyard environment.
