Job Description
Mission Technologies, a division of Huntington Ingalls Industries, is looking for a qualified candidate to fill the role of Technical Support Specialist for operations and installation plans for Naval Continuous Training Environment (NCTE) networking equipment installed aboard Navy ships allowing participation in Fleet Synthetic Training (FST) and Ballistic Missile Defense Exercises (BMDEX). Lead a team of installers for CISCO Layer 3 switches, Voice Over IP (VoIP) phones, Tactical Data Analysis and Connectivity System (TDACS), BFTT Electronic Warfare Trainer (BEWT) PEKs, CEC Interim Training (CIT) PEKs, CAT 5 ethernet cabling and fiber optic cabling. Ensure the Fleet Synthetic Training Technical Operations Manager is informed on the status of all shipboard training systems. Provide technical assistance as required for Battle Force Tactical Trainer (BFTT), Battle Force Electronic Warfare Trainer (BEWT), AEGIS Combat Training System (ACTS), AEGIS Weapons System (AWS), SQQ-89 Sonar Training Onboard Trainer (OBT), AN/SLQ-32 Electronic Warfare Console, Advanced Combat Direction System (ACDS) and Ship Self Defense System (SSDS). Provide administrative leadership to assigned personnel, having various skills, to exercise full responsibility for all administrative, and coordination functions related to specific program elements to ensure that they met customer and user requirements and expectations in cost, quality, and schedule requirements. Provide leadership, training, and coordination to nurture a culture of reliability centered maintenance philosophy which permeates all staffing levels, and which enhances the entire maintenance program. Develop successful applications of advanced predictive testing and inspection technologies to realize significant cost savings for planned maintenance activities. Individual must be able to work independently, collaboratively, and work within a team. The position requires flexibility to work non-standard work hours and work weeks of more than 40 hours to meet business, customer, and contractual requirements.
Essential Job Responsibilities
Analyzes and provides recommendations on issues dealing with disciplines such as military command control and communications, electronic warfare, weapon systems, contingency operations, Military Tactics Techniques and Procedures (MTTP), force planning, and training exercises. Coordinates with user community representatives throughout all phases of development concerning requirements definition, clarification, prioritization, and alternatives. Analyzes the conduct and results of operational user training, military maneuvers or simulated wartime operations undertaken to main the capabilities of a force. Compares, analyzes and evaluates the relative merits of program designs and alternatives. Applies emerging doctrine and tactics, whether detailed in formal doctrinal changes or emanating from Advanced Warfighting Experiments (AWEs), Advanced Technology Demonstrations (ATDs), or Force XXI activities, to system design and development. Assesses the impact of programmatic and technical options on stated user requirements and doctrine. Prepares reports and briefs summarizing support requirements, deficiencies, and investments for various programs and systems.
Minimum Qualifications
- 5 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field OR
- 3 years relevant experience with Masters in related field OR
- 0 years experience with PhD or Juris Doctorate in related field OR
- High School Diploma or equivalent and 9 years relevant experience.
- Ten years’ experience supporting shipboard installations and increasing levels of management development
- US Citizen
- Secret Clearance Required
- Ability to speak, read, and write English
Preferred Requirements
- Experience with multiple naval operating systems and networking equipment.
- CompTIA Security+ and the ability to obtain Cyber Security Workforce Designation
- RedHat desktop operating systems (RHEL 7/8) experience highly desired
- Experience with patching Microsoft servers and workstations
- Strong technical troubleshooting skills
- Ability to read and digest technical information
- Ability to troubleshoot technical issues within multiple systems
- Strong attention to detail
- Strong customer focus, the ability to manage customer needs and multiple work priorities
- Must possess excellent oral and written communication skills
