Job Description

HII's System Integration group is seeking a Software Analyst to join our Integrated Training Systems Software Development team! This is a full-time position location in the Virginia Beach, VA area.
 
As a Software Analyst you will play a critical role as part of the Integrated Training Systems in the design, development and deployment of the Advanced Training Domain (ATD), a shipboard combat system trainer.
 

Essential Job Responsibilities

•    Manage the software development lifecycle of an embedded training application for a set of configuration baselines.
•    Work with a small software development team and our customer for sprint planning, execution, and reviews.
•    Work directly with external stakeholders to establish schedules, coordinate integration and test efforts, and manage deliveries.
•    Formulate software solutions via the use of software requirements, consultations with users, and investigation into systems flow, data utilization, and workflow.
•    Track problematic areas and issues under investigation to completion.
•    Generate documentation in support of software architecture, design, testing, deliveries, schedules, and monthly status.
•    Travel to support software installation and test efforts in laboratory and shipboard environments.
 

Minimum Qualifications

•    5 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; 3 years relevant experience with Masters in related field; 0 years experience with PhD or Juris Doctorate in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 9 years relevant experience.
•    Experience implementing Agile/Scrum software development cycles.
•    Experience with distributed version control (such as Git/Subversion) and issue tracking (such as Jira).
•    Experience with C++ on Linux platforms.
•    Experience with modeling and simulation, TCP/IP networking, and distributed simulations is a plus but not required.
•    Security+ certification (or must obtain within 3 months of hire).
•    Secret Clearance (or ability to obtain a clearance).
•    At least 5 years’ experience in a software development role.
 

Preferred Requirements

•    Experience with JIRA and subversion a plus. 
•    Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science; Computer, Electrical or Electronics Engineering; Mathematics; or related field.
•    At least 2 years’ experience leading a group of software developers.
•    At least 1 year experience in a customer-facing role.
 

Physical Requirements

May require working in an office, industrial, shipboard, or laboratory environment. Capable of climbing ladders and tolerating confined spaces and extreme temperature variances.
