Summary

HII Mission Technologies delivers mission‑critical engineering and technical services to U.S. and allied government customers worldwide. We are seeking a Naval Combat Systems Engineer (AEGIS/SSDS) to support the development of U.S. Navy shore‑based integrated training systems.

 

This is an onsite role at Dam Neck, Virginia Beach, VA, working directly with Navy stakeholders to ensure advanced combat systems are integrated, tested, and ready for training operations.

By ensuring these complex combat systems work seamlessly in a training environment, you’ll help prepare crews for real‑world missions, improve fleet readiness, and strengthen national security. This is a role where your technical expertise has a direct, measurable effect on the safety and effectiveness of U.S. naval forces.

What you will do

  • Perform technical planning, system integration, verification/validation, and supportability analyses for total systems.

  • Conduct analyses across all phases of the system lifecycle: concept, design, fabrication, testing, installation, operation, maintenance, and disposal.

  • Translate customer requirements into complete system solutions that meet technical, schedule, and cost constraints.

  • Perform functional and timeline analyses, trade studies, requirements allocation, and interface definition.

  • Apply extensive technical expertise and knowledge of related disciplines to develop innovative solutions.

  • Present technical approaches and findings clearly to stakeholders.

  • Participate in Interface Working Groups, Interface Control Working Groups, and Product Line data model working groups.

  • Define systems in terms of user needs, integration with existing systems, and operational use cases.

What you must have

Education (Chose one):

    • Bachelor’s degree in a related field + 2 years relevant experience, OR

    • Master’s degree in a related field (no experience required), OR

    • High school diploma/equivalent + 6 years relevant experience

Technical Skills:

  • Familiarity with vSphere, networking, and VNC

  • Ability to assist in developing Courses of Action (COAs) to bring multiple operator consoles online and connect to VTWIN

  • Strong understanding of virtualization concepts (more critical than direct combat system experience)

 

  • Other Requirements:

    • U.S. citizenship

    • Clearance: Current or active DoD Secret clearance, or the abilitly to obtain one before start. 

Preferred Requirements

  • Curret or active DoD clearance
  • Experience working with DoD customers, projects, and processes

  • Demonstrated experience in one or more of the following related Naval System areas:

    • AEGIS

    • Ship Self‑Defense System (SSDS)

Physical Requirements

Office, industrial, or shipboard environment. Capable of climbing ladders and tolerating confined spaces and extreme temperature variances. Lifting and moving materials may be required.
