HII Unmanned Systems (HII UxS) is seeking a talented computer vision engineer to join our UxS software development team. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and implementing computer vision software for maritime robotics application. Translating software requirements into working and maintainable solutions within the existing application frameworks. You will be actively engaged in developing the next generation autonomy for our Unmanned Systems product portfolio, and in doing so will perform the following duties:

•    Meeting with the development team to discuss requirements and applications.
•    Conduct research and development in computer vision and machine learning.
•    Design, implement and integrate innovative computer vision algorithms for maritime applications.
•    Support prototype development, prototype testing, and field demonstration.
•    Multi-modal (Camera, LiDAR) data processing.
•    In-field deployment and testing of systems on USVs and UUVs.
•    Documenting application changes and developing updates.

What you will be doing...

Designs, develops, documents, tests and debugs applications software and systems that contain logical and mathematical solutions. Conducts multidisciplinary research and collaborates with equipment designers and/or hardware engineers in the planning, design, development, and utilization of electronic data processing systems for product and commercial software. Determines computer user needs; analyzes system capabilities to resolve problems on program intent, output requirements, input data acquisition, programming techniques and controls; prepares operating instructions; designs and develops compilers and assemblers, utility programs, and operating systems. Ensures software standards are met.

What we are looking for...

  • 5 years relevant experience with BS in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or Robotics Engineering.,3 years relevant experience with Masters in related field; 0 years experience with PhD or Juris Doctorate in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 9 years relevant experience.
  • Must be a US Citizen able to obtain and maintain a government clearance. #LI-MH1 *TE *EP *MV
  • Ability to successfully function in a team with cross-functional team members and multi-tasking Proficiency in Python and C++.
  •  Minimum 2 years of experience with computer vision techniques.
  • Ability to articulate task specific challenges, discuss critical issues, and identify gaps.
  • Familiarity with computer vision libraries and machine learning framework, such as OpenCV, PyTorch, and TensorFlow.
  • Ability to perform data analysis, and advanced algorithm design and development.
  • Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal) along with ability to foster relationship development with sponsors.
  • Excellent decision-making, problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Agile development methodology and Atlassian tools (JIRA, Bitbucket, Confluence).
  • Experience with Linux.
  •  Must be able to do a hybrid schedule to our VA Beach office
