Summary

HII Mission Technologies is seeking a skilled Linux Administrator to support the Navy Integrated Training Environment (NITE). This role is responsible for the administration, maintenance, and cybersecurity defense of the Navy Enterprise Tactical Training Network (NETTN) infrastructure, which supports enterprise-wide modeling and simulation applications.

 

You’ll collaborate with cross-functional teams to monitor, update, and secure servers and workstations across the enterprise. Responsibilities include Linux and Windows server administration, patching, Group Policy management, and ensuring systems are configured in compliance with DoD Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs).

What you will do

  • Maintain smooth operation of multi-user computer systems

  • Set up administrator and service accounts; manage system documentation

  • Tune system performance and install system-wide software

  • Allocate mass storage space and manage backup recovery

  • Coordinate with network administrators and evaluate vendor products

  • Recommend hardware/software purchases and oversee installations

  • Develop and enforce policies for computing resource allocation

What you must have

  • Education & Experience (one of the following):

    • Bachelor’s degree in a related field + 3 years relevant experience

    • Master’s degree in a related field + 1 year relevant experience

    • High school diploma or equivalent + 7 years relevant experience

  • Current DoD 8570 IAT Level II certification (e.g., Security+ CE, CCNA Security, CySA+, GICSP, GSEC, SSCP)

  • Current or Active DoD Secret Clearance

  • Hands-on experience with Linux system administration (preferably RHEL 7/8)

  • Familiarity with Windows Server environments (2016/2019)

  • Experience applying DoD STIGs and maintaining cybersecurity compliance

  • Proficiency in patching and system updates.

  • Strong troubleshooting skills across hardware, OS, and network layers

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Preferred Requirements

  • Experience with Red Hat Satellite system management

  • Familiarity with Windows 10 Secure Host Baseline (SHB)

  • Experience with VMware and virtualization technologies

  • Knowledge of VDI protocols and environments

  • Ability to interpret and apply technical documentation

  • Strong customer service mindset and ability to manage competing priorities

Physical Requirements

Adequate visual acuity and manual dexterity for meeting the requirements of the Systems Analyst discipline.
