Summary

HII Mission Technologies is seeking a Software Integration Engineer to support the integration, testing, and deployment of the Advanced Training Domain (ATD) System—a shipboard combat system trainer that enhances U.S. Navy operational readiness. This full‑time, on‑site role is part of a highly skilled engineering team delivering reliable, high‑fidelity mission training capabilities.

 

In this role, you will ensure software components, system services, data interfaces, and third‑party integrations function cohesively within a fully integrated combat system training environment.

  • Work closely with developers, testers, systems engineers, and network teams to solve real‑world integration challenges

Key Job Responsibilities

  • Integrate software applications across multiple operating systems, including Windows and Linux
  • Analyze system and application requirements to ensure compatibility and interoperability
  • Develop integration plans, workflows, and documentation to support deployment and validation
  • Configure and test application components to verify proper functionality across target environments
  • Troubleshoot and resolve integration issues involving software dependencies, OS configurations, and network interactions
  • Collaborate with development, systems, and network teams to coordinate integration activities
  • Implement and maintain automation tools to streamline integration and deployment processes
  • Support version control, configuration management, and environment consistency across platforms
  • Ensure integrated applications meet performance, security, and compliance requirements
  • Provide technical guidance on cross‑platform best practices and integration strategies
  • Conduct integration testing and system verification in lab environments and aboard ship, as required
  • Provide on‑site support during installation events, upgrades, and acceptance testing (up to 10% travel)
  • Perform additional related duties as assigned to support project and organizational needs

What you must have

Required Education & Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree and 2 years of relevant experience, OR
  • Master’s degree and 0 years of relevant experience, OR
  • High school diploma/equivalent and 6 years of relevant experience
Required Knowledge & Skills
  • Experience integrating, configuring, and troubleshooting software across both Windows and Linux operating systems
  • Strong familiarity with Windows and Linux command‑line environments and administrative tools
  • Working knowledge of C++ and Java for debugging, log analysis, and integration troubleshooting
  • Experience with Agile/Scrum development workflows
  • Experience with system interfaces, message handling, and software interoperability
  • Ability to diagnose and resolve complex integration issues across application layers, OS environments, and networks
  • Experience with automation tools or scripting to support integration and deployment

Required Credentials

  • Ability to otain a DoD Information Assurance Technician (IAT) Level II certification or higher (e.g., Security+ CE, CCNA Security, CySA+) within 3 months of hire if not currently held.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen
  • Must hold a current or active DoD Secret clearance

Preferred Qualifications

  • Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, IT, or related technical field
  • IAT Level II certification or higher (e.g., Security+ CE, CCNA Security, CySA+)
  • Experience integrating training systems, modeling and simulation systems, or Navy combat systems
  • Familiarity with Jira, GitLab, CI/CD pipelines, virtualization, and containerization technologies (Docker/Podman)
  • Exposure to U.S. Navy training environments or other mission‑critical platforms
  • Possession of an active IAT Level II certification (e.g., Security+ CE, CCNA Security, CySA+)
  • Experience with Jira and Subversion

Physical Requirements

Office, industrial, or shipboard environment. Capable of climbing ladders and tolerating confined spaces and extreme temperature variances. Lifting and moving materials may be required.
