Who We Are

Mission Technologies is seeking a highly skilled Information Systems Security Engineer (ISSE) to serve as the subject matter expert in cybersecurity and information assurance for a critical project. This role requires expertise in the operation of both Department of Defense (DoD) and approved commercial cyber tools to safeguard project data and assets. The ISSE will oversee the daily operations of the cyber suite, ensuring compliance with reporting requirements for project management and DoD directives. Additionally, the ISSE will play a key role in developing and maintaining RMF IA documentation to achieve and sustain Authority to Operate (ATO) for all project networks. This position emphasizes technical leadership, cybersecurity compliance, and operational efficiency, integrating deep platform expertise, automation strategies, and end-user support to enhance overall system security and functionality.

What You Will Do

  • Develop and execute STIG self-assessments and apply secure configurations to enclave systems.
  • Conduct monthly patching and remediation of system vulnerabilities in alignment with POA&M entries.
  • Analyze vulnerability scan results (e.g., ACAS/Nessus) and apply necessary system updates or mitigations.
  • Perform compliance validation using SCAP tools and manual configuration checks.
  • Coordinate with system administrators, network engineers, ISSO, and ISSM to implement and validate technical security controls.
  • Participate in change control and risk assessment discussions to ensure secure implementation of system modifications.
  • Maintain and update RMF documentation, including SSPs, POA&Ms, and Control Implementation Statements (SCIS).
  • Provide technical evidence and support for cybersecurity audits and ATO assessments.
  • Prepare and present the system’s security posture to stakeholders and assessors.
  • Ensure continuous alignment with NIST 800-53 and DoD cybersecurity compliance standards.

What We Are Looking For

  • 5 years relevant experience with bachelor's in related field; 3 years relevant experience with master's in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 9 years relevant experience.
  • Active DoD Top-Secret clearance. 
  • CompTIA Security+ (DoD 8570 baseline)

 

Preferred: Bonus Points For...

  • Proficient in applying and validating DISA STIGs and performing system hardening.
  • Experience with vulnerability scanners (e.g., ACAS, Nessus) and patch management tools (e.g., SCCM).
  • Familiarity with RMF lifecycle, ATO packages, and security artifact development.
  • Comfortable executing technical configuration changes, script-based remediation, and GPO management.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, especially in documenting technical compliance efforts.
  • Certifications: CISSP, CAP, GIAC (GSEC, GCED, GCIH), and/or relevant operating system certifications (Linux+, MCSA, CCNA, VCP, ect.)
