Summary

The Cybersecurity Analyst plays an essential role in safeguarding the Navy Continuous Training Environment (NCTE) by supporting the Computer Network Defense (CND) team. This position requires a security-focused professional who thrives in high-paced, mission-critical environments, ensuring real-time protection and monitoring of Navy Enterprise Tactical Training Network (NETTN) infrastructure. The ideal candidate brings expert knowledge of cybersecurity tools, cyber threat intelligence, and government compliance standards.

This position is pivotal in maintaining secure network operations, supporting warfighter preparedness, and ensuring uninterrupted access to essential resources across the Navy enterprise.

What you will do

  • Support the Computer Security Incident Response Team (CSIRT) in identifying and evolving the threat landscape for NCTE

  • Analyze cyber threat intelligence and generate actionable reports for stakeholders

  • Assist with incident response activities such as triage, containment, investigation, and remediation

  • Collaborate with Security Operations Center (SOC) personnel to identify and remediate gaps in security posture

  • Conduct trend analysis using various security tools

  • Utilize automated log aggregation systems to compress, correlate, and analyze data from authorized government sources

  • Execute and assess government-directed Computer Network Defense (CND) Response Actions and configuration changes

  • Provide written assessments on potential adverse impacts to end-user services and recommend corrective actions

  • Offer expert-driven process recommendations that boost efficiency and streamline reporting

  • Monitor and analyze Trellix ePolicy Orchestrator (ePO) queries, dashboards, and logs

  • Validate and interpret Tenable Assured Compliance Assessment Solution (ACAS) scan results and reporting outputs

  • Work closely with cross-functional teams to resolve and document security findings

What you must have

  • Education and experience:

    • 5+ years relevant experience with a Bachelor’s degree in a related field

    • 3+ years relevant experience with a Master’s degree in a related field

    • 0 years experience with a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) or Juris Doctorate in a related field

    • 9+ years relevant experience with a High School Diploma or equivalent

  • Proven expertise in cyber threat intelligence

  • Experience using Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) tools to analyze logs and events for threat detection and mitigation

  • Hands-on background in Security Operations Center (SOC) operations and incident response

  • Strong grasp of cybersecurity frameworks, directives, and industry best practices

  • Familiarity with government cybersecurity compliance reporting

  • Compliant with Department of Defense (DoD) Cyber Information Technology / Cybersecurity Workforce (Cyber IT/CSWF) Program requirements (DoD 8570.1-M and SECNAV M-5239.2) at the Information Assurance Technician Level II (IAT-II), including possession of a valid CompTIA Security+ Continuing Education (CE) certification or equivalent

  • U.S. citizenship required

  • Must possess a current or active Department of Defense (DoD) Secret security clearance

Preferred Requirements

  • Industry certifications such as Systems Security Certified Practitioner (SSCP), Cybersecurity Analyst (CySA+), Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), or SecurityX

  • Experience in conducting cybersecurity operations within a DoD or federal government environment

  • Proficiency in automation and scripting for log analysis and reporting

  • Familiarity with tools such as:

    • Exabeam

    • LogRhythm

    • Splunk Enterprise Security

    • Tenable Assured Compliance Assessment Solution (ACAS)

    • Trellix ePolicy Orchestrator (ePO)

Physical Requirements

May require working in an office, industrial, shipboard, or laboratory environment. Capable of climbing ladders and tolerating confined spaces and extreme temperature variances.
