Job Description

The Integrated Air and Missile Defense (IAMD) Planner (Strategic Planner 2-3) serves as a regional IAMD subject matter expert supporting USCENTCOM’s Security Cooperation (SC) mission. The analyst provides programmatic, operational, and strategic expertise to develop, implement, and assess IAMD strategies, plans, and partner‑nation capabilities. This position operates within a strategic Joint command environment and requires 6–10 years of experience in integrated air and missile defense, joint or combined planning, interoperability, command and control, and partner‑engagement activities. Excellent writing and briefing skills are essential, with demonstrated ability to produce executive‑level products, reporting, and engagement readouts.

Essential Job Responsibilities

1. Strategy, Plans, and Program Integration

  • Develop and refine USCENTCOM IAMD strategies, objectives, and plans in support of Security Cooperation (SC) activities.
  • Produce and contribute to key planning documents, including the Theater Campaign Plan (TCP), Country Security Cooperation Plans (CSCPs), and supporting higher‑headquarters guidance.
  • Review and provide recommendations on IAMD components of CSCPs following each TCP update to ensure alignment with campaign objectives.
  • Support bilateral and multilateral agreement development to advance the Commander's IAMD objectives.

 

2. Integrated Air and Missile Defense Planning

  • Serve as a primary analyst and action officer for IAMD within the SC Plans Division.
  • Lead integration of IAMD requirements into theater‑level and country‑level plans.
  • Track progress of the IAMD Base Plan and perform assessments of regional partner interoperability.
  • Provide actionable recommendations to senior leadership on capability development, interoperability progress, and strategic planning priorities.

 

3. Synchronization, Coordination, and Event Support

  • Support planning and execution of IAMD‑related, command‑sponsored events, including exercises, tabletop exercises (TTXs), wargames, and interoperability working groups.
  • Facilitate data recording, information management, and product development using Microsoft Office suite tools.
  • Assist in developing briefings for OSD, CENTCOM Commander and Deputy Commander, and visiting dignitaries.
  • Maintain a comprehensive repository of approved IAMD plans, assessments, and analytic products accessible to the IAMD team.

 

4. Regional Expertise, Engagement, and Interoperability Assessments

  • Maintain expert-level awareness of regional IAMD capabilities, challenges, and partner‑nation developments.
  • Provide subject matter expertise to security cooperation teams at U.S. embassies and other forward locations.
  • Track and assess partner‑nation interoperability progress, providing regular analytic updates to the IAMD Manager and Branch Chief.
  • Participate in key leader engagements and working groups, offering IAMD expertise to inform senior‑level discussions and decision-making.

Minimum Qualifications

Level 2 = 3 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; 1 year relevant experience with Masters in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 7 years relevant experience.

Level 3 = 6 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; 4 years relevant experience with Masters in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 10 years relevant experience. .

  • Experience working within a strategic, Joint or Combined command environment.
  • Demonstrated experience in IAMD planning, partner engagement, interoperability assessments, and command‑and‑control integration.
  • Strong executive writing skills with ability to produce engagement readouts, strategic reporting, and senior leader briefings.
  • Proven briefing skills with experience presenting to senior military and civilian officials.
  • 3–5 years of experience in air and missile defense capability analysis, Foreign Military Sales, sustainment, readiness, or related fields.
  • Experience with maintenance, readiness, logistics, or sustainment planning for defense systems.
  • Familiarity with Patriot, THAAD, NASAMS, C‑UAS, and related air and missile defense architectures.
  • Understanding of radar sharing, data‑sharing, inventory tracking, and command‑and‑control integration.
  • Knowledge of Link‑16, JREAP, JICO concepts, and cyber Risk Management Framework (RMF) considerations impacting air and missile defense systems
  • U.S. citizenship with active Secret security clearance required; TS/SCI preferred

  • Integrated Air and Missile Defense (IAMD) architecture and planning.
  • Familiarity with Patriot, THAAD, NASAMS, Counter‑Unmanned Aerial Systems (C‑UAS), and associated systems.
  • Foreign Military Sales (FMS) processes related to air and missile defense.
  • Joint Interoperability Control Officer (JICO) concepts.
  • Link‑16 and Joint Range Extension Applications Protocol (JREAP).
  • Radar sharing, data-sharing frameworks, and interoperability architectures.
  • Readiness inventory tracking and analysis.
  • Understanding of Cyber Risk Management Framework (RMF) implications for IAMD systems.
