Who We Are

HII – Mission Technologies is seeking a highly skilled Crew Chief to support an executive business jet operation at Andrews AFB. This role is perfect for former Air Force crew chiefs, maintainers, and flight line professionals who excel in high visibility, high standards environments. As a Crew Chief, you will play a critical role in ensuring aircraft readiness, delivering exceptional customer support, and maintaining operational excellence. This position involves a mix of customer facing duties and hands on duties in both indoor and outdoor settings, with on call responsibilities. Professionalism, flexibility, and teamwork are essential as you help ensure a safe, efficient, and mission focused operation.

What You Will Do

  • Lead and support day to day aircraft operations, ensuring full compliance with safety and regulatory standards.
  • Maintain aircraft readiness to support accurate, timely, and reliable departures.
  • Coordinate schedules for aircraft availability and routine maintenance activities.
  • Serve as the primary liaison between aircraft operations, flight crews, and management.
  • Maintain accurate training records, including classroom, OJT, and recurrent requirements.
  • Participate in operational meetings and planning sessions to support mission execution.
  • Provide exceptional customer service by greeting and assisting passengers in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Support boarding operations, assist with special service requests, and ensure a seamless passenger experience.
  • Handle, check, and load passenger baggage while ensuring full compliance with safety regulations.
  • Escort and assist passengers during boarding and deplaning, including individuals requiring additional support.
  • Address passenger needs and resolve concerns to ensure the highest level of customer satisfaction.
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of HAZMAT procedures and FAA regulatory requirements.
  • Communicate clearly and professionally with passengers, coworkers, flight crews, and leadership.
  • Uphold ramp safety and security standards, complying with all applicable FAA, safety, and company policies.
  • Monitor passenger safety during all phases of the boarding and deplaning process.
  • Marshal aircraft on the ramp, including parking, arrival, departure, and towing operations.
  • Follow all safe ground handling procedures, conduct routine GSE inspections, and report equipment concerns.
  • Perform assigned duties in accordance with all established security protocols.
  • Service aircraft as required, including lavatories, potable water, windows, and de icing operations.
  • Assist with ramp set up and ensure proper storage and organization of equipment and baggage.
  • Perform additional tasks and responsibilities as assigned by HII management.

What We Are Looking For

  • 2 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; 0 years experience with Masters in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 6 years relevant experience.
  • Prior aviation or airline industry experience (minimum of 9 months preferred).
  • Must be able to safely complete all phyiscal requirements, listed below. 
  • Fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English.
  • Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Office 365, Excel, Outlook, Word) or similar applications.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with a polished, professional, and customer focused approach.
  • Demonstrated leadership, organizational, and time management abilities.
  • Ability to work effectively with a wide range of personalities while maintaining professionalism.
  • Skilled at managing multiple priorities, meeting deadlines, and working efficiently in a fast paced environment.
  • Ability to adapt to interruptions and shifting priorities while maintaining strong attention to detail.
  • Self motivated, with the ability to motivate others when needed.
  • Able to work both independently and as part of a collaborative, team oriented environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills delivered with tact and professionalism.
  • Ability to pass a pre employment drug screening and comply with all FAA and company mandated random drug and alcohol testing.
  • Willingness to work flexible schedules, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, holidays, and irregular shifts as required.
  • Commitment to adhering to all safety regulations and working in compliance with OSHA, EPA, federal, and state requirements.
  • Working knowledge of aircraft maintenance practices to support quality checks of subcontracted maintenance activities.
  • Clearance: Must possess and maintain an active SECRET security clearance with the ability to obtain a Top Secret clearance.

Preferred: Bonus Points For...

  • Proficient in speaking Spanish. 
  • Prior aircraft crew chief or pilot in the military.

 

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to frequently stoop, bend, kneel, and crouch while performing duties in both indoor and outdoor environments.
  • Ability to regularly lift, load, unload, and transport items up to 75 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Comfortable standing, walking, and working on your feet for extended periods.
  • Capable of working in a variety of environmental conditions, including heat, cold, rain, snow, and high noise areas.
  • Ability to safely operate ground service equipment (GSE) and perform the physical tasks required for ramp operations.
  • Able to climb and descend aircraft air stairs frequently.
