Summary:
The Systems Engineer will support the Joint Staff JLVC Modernization initiative by providing technical engineering, integration, and rapid prototyping solutions in support of Live, Virtual, and Constructive (LVC) joint and coalition training environments. This position is integral to responding to emergent operational requirements and supporting the execution of large-scale joint training events. The candidate will contribute to the design, implementation, testing, and sustainment of interoperable and secure systems that support Joint All Domain Command and Control (JADC2) and coalition operations. This position will support the Joint Training Synthetic Environment (JTSE) Joint Staff J7(JS J-7) contract at our Suffolk, VA Joint Staff Complex.
What You Will Do
• Develop and integrate systems that meet emerging LVC training requirements and modernization goals.
• Apply Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) practices to document architectures and system designs.
• Interface with solution teams within and outside of the Joint Staff to develop and integrate innovative capabilities.
• Design, build, test, and deploy rapid solutions to meet short-term and emergent training needs.
• Support technology evaluation, proof-of-concept demonstrations, and iterative development cycles.
• Engineer cloud-native and hybrid cloud solutions aligned with DOD enterprise policies.
• Support JTEN and JTEN-Expeditionary (JTEN-X) configurations and cloud integration.
• Design and implement zero trust architecture components.
• Collaborate with security teams to ensure compliance with DoD cybersecurity requirements and support Cross Domain Solutions (CDS).
• Prepare systems and capabilities for integration into large-scale exercises such as EC and LSGE.
• Ensure system readiness and interoperability in a multi-domain, multi-national environment.
• Integrate enterprise-wide data services and dynamic threat modeling capabilities.
• Leverage ML/AI for threat emulation, decision support, and performance assessment tools.

What You Must Have
• 5 years experience with Bachelors in related field; 3 years experience with Masters in related field; 0 years experience with PhD or Juris Doctorate in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 9 years relevant experience.
• DoD 8570 IAT Level II (e.g., Security+ CE)
• Experience supporting Joint or DoD training environments (Live/Virtual/Constructive).
• Strong background in systems integration, cloud infrastructure, and zero trust security.
• Familiarity with tools and systems such as:
o JTEN/JTEN-X
o MPE (Mission Partner Environment)
o CDS (Cross Domain Solutions)
o JADC2 and CJADC2 frameworks
• Demonstrated ability to manage complex technical projects in a fast-paced environment.
• Prior support to large-scale exercises or operational test events.
• Experience supporting Joint or DoD training environments (Live/Virtual/Constructive).
• Must have and be able to maintain a Secret Security Clearance
Preferred Requirements
• Strong background in systems integration, cloud infrastructure, and zero trust security.
• AWS/Azure/GCP Cloud Certifications preferred.
• Systems Engineering Certifications (INCOSE CSEP) perferred.
