Summary:
HII Mission Technologies is seeking a Technical Writer to join our team on-site at NGA Campus East in Springfield, Virginia. The Technical Writer will support the government knowledge management lead with assisting in the collection, organization, and preparation of technical documentation, including situation reports, pre and post engagement report compilation and editing, weekly activity reports for the program, CONOP documentation, user manuals, training materials, installation guides, proposals, and reports. This role involves editing functional descriptions, system specifications, and special reports, ensuring clarity and accuracy in customer deliverables. This position will require the team member to become knowledgeable in the customer's business operations and technology resources to provide value-add contributions that enable the customer to consistently meet their mission, goals, and objectives.

What You Will Do:
- Writes, rewrites and/or edits technical documents such as situation reports, pre and post engagement briefings, technical procedure manuals, user manuals, programming manuals, service manuals, operational specifications, and related technical publications to communicate clearly and effectively technical specifications and instructions to a wide range of audiences
- Oversees preparation of illustrative materials, selecting drawings, sketches, diagrams and charts
- Conducts quality review of materials
- Reviewing and revising content for accuracy and quality, including spelling, grammar, punctuation, and syntax.
- Collaborating with the creative team of analysts, engineers, technical editors, and production teams to ensure that content is consistently published in a timely manner.
- Ensuring correct tone, voice, clarity, flow, and structure of content.
- Ensuring that content adheres to the in-house style guides.
- Staying abreast of the latest content trends and best practices.
- Compiling and updating style guides as required.
- Managing and maintaining a Production Library of electronic and hard copy documents across multiple classified systems.
- Implements and supports Knowledge Management (KM) policies, strategies, practices and projects to accomplish the vision, mission, and strategic objectives for DoD customers
- Works with individuals and organizations within the customer agency to determine KM requirements and business processes. Assesses existing and emerging capabilities to fulfill those needs, and provide recommendations to leadership for implementation
- Identifies internal and external best practices
- Ensures that content is in compliance with DoD, NGA, and IT information security standards, the organizations vision, goals and implementation plan, and approved policies and guidelines
- Works with users to design, develop and test complex knowledge capture processes and workflows, search capabilities and measurement approaches
- Assists with technical user guides and other technical documentation
- Additional duties as assigned or required
What We're Looking For:
- 9 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; 7 years relevant experience with Masters in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 13 years relevant experience.
- Active TS/SCI clearance
- Experience with:
- NGA, Intel, and/or DOD environments
- Experience with following applications:
- Microsoft Office Suite of Tools
- Adobe Acrobat Pro/DC
- USG email systems
- JIRA
Preferred Requirements
- 5 years of demonstrated experience in proofing others' work and providing constructive feedback.
- Active Top Secret Security Clearance with active SCI and CI Poly.
- Experience with Government writing and presentation creation focused on a Senior-Leader audience.
- Proficiency with applying principles of style guides
- Experience in DoD Knowledge Management activities
