Summary

HII Mission Technologies is seeking a skilled Software Engineer to support the Unmanned Maritime Systems Support (UMSS) program. This role includes a Hybrid schedule (averaging 1–2 days onsite per week). Hybrid participation is ideal for team collaboration and program integration; however, fully remote may be considered depending on experience and location outside the local area.

UMSS focuses on developing and integrating advanced software for unmanned underwater vehicles, distributed maritime communications, and tactical situational awareness systems. In this role, you’ll contribute to mission‑critical technologies used by Navy operators, helping connect unmanned platforms with command‑and‑control tools through modern C#, TAK‑based, and distributed software architectures.

This position is ideal for cleared engineers with strong C# fundamentals and experience in the Tactical Assault Kit (TAK) ecosystem who want to work on meaningful, mission‑driven technology. You’ll collaborate closely with cross‑functional engineering teams, support both lab and fleet testing activities, and help advance next‑generation unmanned maritime capabilities. #LI-MJ1

  • Support integration testing, validation, and verification of software components.
  • Participate in Government and Fleet test events to demonstrate and validate capabilities.
  • Prepare test plans, reports, and contribute to CONOPS and SOP development.
  • Develop and update engineering documentation, briefs, analyses, and program reviews.
  • Assist with technical coordination, program documentation, and support for CONUS/OCONUS outfitting and deployment activities.

What you must have

  • 5 years of relevant experience with a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a closely related technical field (e.g., Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Systems Engineering); 3 years with a Master’s degree; 0 years with a PhD or Juris Doctorate; or 9 years of relevant experience with a High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Hands‑on C# software development experience.
  • Strong software engineering fundamentals, including design principles, debugging, and code quality best practices.
  • Experience developing software within distributed, modular, or service‑oriented architectures.
  • Must have a current or active DoD SECRET clearance.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience developing WinTAK, ATAK, or TAK Server plug‑ins.
• Experience with MK18 software products such as Hydroid VIP, Neptune, or Coin Nexus.

• Experience supporting field tests, demonstrations, or operational deployments of TAK‑enabled systems.
