Summary

Join HII as we keep the world's most powerful Navy afloat! This role shall manage end-to-end logistics, focusing on efficient goods flow, inventory control via Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems (Navy ERP), and material handling. Responsibilities include procurement, warehousing, transportation, and preparing installation kits for ship alterations. The position requires strong logistics experience, the ability to operate heavy equipment, and a focus on process improvement and customer satisfaction. This is a full-time position, located in San Diego, CA.

Essential Job Responsibilities

  • Controls the efficient flow of goods, services, and information from origin to final customer placement while ensuring customer service and schedule objectives are met within financial constraints.
  • Executes and continuously improves standard logistics processes, including replenishment, data interchange, demand management, and Navy ERP order management.
  • Builds and maintains relationships with strategic customers through effective logistics initiatives, integrating learning from multiple sources to strengthen competitive positioning.
  • Manages inventory and assets in ERP systems; sources, receives, ships, and tracks materials to support operational requirements.
  • Moves materials as required and assembles and packages installation kits to support production and project needs.

Minimum Qualifications

  • 6 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; 4 years relevant experience with Masters in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 10 years relevant experience.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain base access.
  • Must have experience coordinating inventory management, warehousing, and transportation activities, including traveling to vendor or Government locations to pick up or deliver materials.
  • Must be able to support core logistical functions such as sourcing, receiving, purchasing, and managing the shipping, receiving, and storage of materials at the Shipyard, warehouse, and other Government locations.
  • Must have experience moving materials between facilities and operating Weight Handling Equipment, including pallet jacks, forklifts, and overhead cranes.
  • Must have experience crating, palletizing, strapping, chain binding, and rigging heavy equipment for movement using pallet jacks, forklifts, cranes, or trucks.
  • Must have experience providing installation kitting support, including reviewing installation drawings, determining required materials, coordinating Government‑provided items with the planning yard, and executing procurements.
  • Must be able to perform packaging, kitting, and auditing of Fleet Modernization Planning (FMP) and Shipbuilding and Conversion, Navy (SCN) installation kits for ship alterations and field change improvements.
  • Must have experience using supply system tools such as Navy Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) to place shipping orders, manage inventory, apply location and condition codes, and maintain accountability of assets such as trailers, forklifts, and vehicles.

Preferred Requirements

  • A current, valid DoD security clearance. 

Physical Requirements

Must be able to work in a shipboard environment. Must be able to lift, carry, and transport heavy equipment.
