Who We Are

We are seeking Fiber Optic Technicians for fleet modernization. The selected candidates will be supporting our Systems Integrations department working on active class submarines, surface ships, and shore-based communication facilities using various mechanical tools to install, upgrade and remove industrial equipment to assist with alterations and installations. Selected candidate will be required to travel to shipyards and military bases located around or out of the country when not assigned to a local task. Per Diem available based on location when on travel, travel and lodging expenses are covered by the company.

What You Will Do

  • Display levels of quality, integrity, safety, respect, engagement, and performance consistent with company values.

  • Under guidance, Install, operate, maintain, repair, and modify equipment and structures by performing alterations and installations for fleet modernization on US Navy surface ships.

  • Apply understanding of production processes towards completion of complicated and non-routine tasks related to installations on shipboard systems and related equipment at company, and/or field locations in accordance with established quality and safety procedures.

  • Work from blueprints, engineering sketches, charts, work orders, technical documents including controlled work packages, formal work processes and procedures, test documents, reports and task or trip reports.

  • Assist with troubleshooting and diagnosing equipment to efficiently eliminate problems.

  • May inspect completed work for conformance to specifications.

  • Maintain effective supervisor and manager communications and relations.

  • Remove, plan, execute, install, and modify electrical cable, cableways, conductors, connectors, strain relief, fasteners, and equipment aboard naval vessels.

  • Complete electrical and data conductor disconnections and reconnections on existing and new equipment for a complete installation.

  • Complete Quality documents necessary for reporting and verification of the work performed.  

What You Must Have

  • High School education, or Trade School or equivalent, and 2 years of related experience.
  • Experience working on surface ships and submarines.
  • Must have Fiber Optic experience to include Installation, Termination, and Interferometer testing.
  • Must be Blown Optical Fiber certified.
  • Must be Multipin Connector certified.
  • Must have Fiber Splicing experience. 
  • Must be Anritsu Certified.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret Security Clearance and DBIDS base access throughout employment.
  • Must provide own hand tools as designated per trades specialty.

Bonus Points For...

  • Prefer candidates with an active security clearance. 

  • Experience in large NIWC/SPAWAR integrated installation contracts is preferred.
  • Experience in Shore C4I is preferred. 

  • Prefer technical/professional certifications.

  • Prior Quality Assurance certifications are preferred.

  • Shipyard Competent Person (SCP) certification is preferred.

  • Prior AIT or active duty experience on current active class ships is preferred.

  • Candidates possessing a current U.S. Travel passport are preferred.

Physical Requirements

Must be able to lift, carry and transport heavy equipment and boxes. The exact weight requirements will be determined by the specific job, but no less than 30 lbs. Able to work on and climb ladders, work in extreme temperature environments, aboard ships, in shipyards, under industrial conditions and in confined spaces. Able to perform other duties as required which may involve high heat, humidity, noise and dirty conditions, working aloft or over the sides of vessels. May ride ships at sea for extended periods. May require wearing a respirator. Travel may be required within and outside of the continental United States.
