Who We Are
HII Mission Technologies is seeking a Electromagnetic Warfare (EW) Product Trainer 2 to join our training support team at Surface Combat Systems Training Command Detachment San Diego (SCSTC Det SW). This role delivers expert instruction in both classroom and shipboard environments, preparing U.S. Navy sailors and supervisors to tactically operate, employ, and maintain advanced Electromagnetic Warfare (EW) systems.
The selected candidate will train EW Operators / Supervisors on the tactical use of the AN/SLQ-32(V) family of systems; focusing not only on system fuctionality, but also on tactical decision making and real-time operational thinking. This includes mission planning, threat recognition, system employment strategies, and supporting command-level coordination. Instruction also covers Joint Tactical Terminal (JTT), Embedded Training Systems (ETS) including: BEWT I/II, and SEWTT, and simulation platforms such as ACTS, BFTT, and ATD. Training includes operational employment, system data flow comprehension, and hands-on troubleshooting of Electromagnetic Warfare ETS platforms to ensure full spectrum readiness.
This position is located in San Diego, CA and requires travel up to 10% of the time, including shipboard training evolutions and fleet concentration areas.
What You Will Do
- Deliver Electromagnetic Warfare (EW) and ETS training to Navy operators and technicians both in classroom and onboard naval vessels.
- Instruct capabilities and limitations on Joint Tactical Terminal (JTT), AN/SLQ-32(V), and embedded systems such as BEWT I/II and SEWTT; while providing operational knowledge in ACTS, BFTT, and ATD simulation tools.
- Guide students through operational concepts, limitations, and tactical deployment of EW systems.
- Operate independently or as part of a mobile team while executing training missions aboard U.S. Navy ships and in fleet concentration areas.
- Support administrative requirements using Microsoft Office 365 tools to complete post-training reports and records.
- Maintain compliance with Navy training and safety protocols.
- Travel required for shipboard training events, occasionally involving overtime or weekend commitments.
- This position supports fleet EW readiness through expert instruction, mission realism, and tactical proficiency.
What You Must Have
- Demonstrated experience training or mentoring Navy sailors in EW operations.
- Minimum of 6 years experience as a Cryptologic Technician Technical (CTT) with at least 5 years of sea time.
- At least one overseas deployment as an Electromagnetic Warfare Operator and Supervisor.
- Ability to manage and direct small teams in shipboard environments.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- U.S. Citizenship and ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Security Clearance.
- 3 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; 1 year relevant experience with Masters in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 7 years relevant experience.
Preferred Requirements
- Prior Military Instructor Qualification (NEC 9502) and/or Navy Master Training Specialist (MTS)
- Knowledge of C5ISR systems and Navy training pipelines.
- Familiarity with fleet modernization, afloat training support requirements, and the Fleet Readiness Training Manual (FRTM)
- Hands-on experience with the AN/SLQ-32(V)6 system – the Navy’s most advanced shipboard Electromagnetic Warfare capability.
