Summary
Join HII as we keep the world's most powerful Navy afloat! Right now, we are currently looking for a qualified candidate to fill the role of Supply Chain Specialist. This position will support HII-NNS as a member of the CVN Availability Project Team. The Supply Chain specialist supports CVN availabilities onsite at North Island Naval Base in Coronado, California and works directly with the Government customer and suppliers to support mission needs. This is a full-time position, located in San Diego, CA.
What You Will Do
- Responsible for purchasing a variety of complex supplies and services.
- Manage and evaluate bids and select vendors.
- Select and recommend suppliers.
- Analyze cost elements including labor, material and overhead.
- Negotiate price, delivery, quality and service.
- Manage customer relationships.
- Monitor supplier performance and identify cost-saving opportunities.
- Manage supplier invoicing.
- Ensure procurement standards are in accordance with the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR).
What You Must Have
- 10 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; 8 years relevant experience with Masters in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 14 years relevant experience.
- Extensive experience in the Navy shipbuilding industry.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Security Clearance.
- Must have significant experience with US Navy contracting.
- Must have experience in managing subcontractors.
- Experience with cost estimating including material, labor, and required testing.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain base access and ship access.
- Ability to understand and interpret technical information.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Excellent communication and customer service mindset.
Preferred: Bonus Points For
- A current, active DoD Security clearance.
- Proven ability to effectively manage competing priorities.
- Exposure to Navy Maintenance Database (NMD) or similar data base systems.
- Familiarity with Aircraft Carrier systems including integration.
