Job Description


Huntington Ingalls is looking for a Support / Test Analyst to work out of our San Antonio, TX office location. The ideal candidate for the Support/Test Analyst role will enjoy working in a fast-paced environment and have excellent customer service skills. The successful applicant will travel 0-4 times per year (when Covid-19 ends). They will occasionally work flexible hours (i.e., before or after typical business hours and weekends) and sometimes have pre-scheduled on-call shifts. 

Essential Job Responsibilities


  • Monitor applications, support custom integration points for enterprise applications, and actively mitigate potential issues and down time
  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, resolve, and escalate issues in all environments from development to production
  • Perform and document root cause analysis
  • Process operations and maintenance requests within defined thresholds
  • Participate as the branch representative when providing support, performing requirement gathering, troubleshooting calls/meeting with outside stakeholders holders -- including the national support desk, other development/tier 3 support teams, and court units
  • Tests new and existing functionality; performs integration testing of pre-release versions of applications, develops use cases and test cases, and works with programmers and analysts to resolve problems
  • Participate in off hour weekend testing of production releases


Analyzes business and technical processes to formulate and develop new and modified business information processing systems, such as production and inventory control systems, financial tracking systems, marketing and human resources systems. Represents the business unit to define requirements and business cases for the technology developments. Coordinates with business and technology teams, ascertaining system requirements, such as program functions, output requirements, input data acquisition, and system techniques and controls. Requires knowledge of e-commerce tools, computer system capabilities, business processes, and work flow.

Minimum Qualifications


6 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; 4 years relevant experience with Masters in related field.


  • Relevant knowledge related to the Support/Test Analyst role, including: 
    • Knowledge of Red Hat Linux system administration and management principles and practices, which may include hands-on experience with Linux command line tools
    • Knowledge of developing programming languages and techniques utilizing HTML, Perl, Java, c/c++, and developing, administering, and tuning Informix databases. 
    • Knowledge of VMware and virtual server architectures and the use of cloud technologies.
  • 6 years of relevant experience, which may include (but is not limited to) experience with: 
    • Linux operating system
    • Maintain hardware on servers and PCs. 
    • Developing and maintaining configuration management at a systems level.
    • Recommending and implementing process and procedural improvements
  • Skills required for this role include: 
    • Ability to communicate with various levels of computer users and management both orally and in writing

Preferred Requirements


  • Relevant knowledge related to the Support/Test Analyst role, including:
    • Working knowledge of Federal Court CM/ECF software a plus
  • Relevant experience related to the Support/Test Analyst role, such as:
    • Supporting current and future services, including stakeholder engagement both internally and externally
    • Experience with relational database systems and SQL queries for support and trouble shooting
    • Experience with issue management, analysis and resolution
  • Relevant skills and other attributes related to the Support/Test Analyst role, including: 
    • Ability to work flexible hours and be on-call
    • Ability to do limited travel (0 - 4 times a year)
    • Good diagnostic, analytic, troubleshooting, and multitasking skill
    • Ability to quickly learn 
    • Ability to articulate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences
