Job Description

HII Mission Technologies (HII MT) is seeking talented engineers who are excited to work in a flipped engineering environment. Our team in Roanoke, VA specializes in reverse engineering and microelectronics trust and assurance. 

  

Candidates for this position will contribute to the team by utilizing in-house software tools to reverse engineer hardware assets provided by the U.S. government. During the analysis, engineers will be expected to provide expertise on Digital RF systems including embedded software wireless radios, digital wireless communications, digital signal processors, Wifi, cellular communications, satellite communications, and handheld wireless communications. 

  

The ideal candidate will have experience with RF system design and verification, especially the digital front-end. Experience with hardware hacking and RF-based attacks is also valued in this position. 

Essential Job Responsibilities

Candidates for this position will be responsible for performing hardware analysis and reverse engineering of DoD assets. 

Candidates will be expected to produce clear documentation explaining the components, capabilities, and features of asset systems. 

The use of HII proprietary tools, vendor tools, and other  modeling, simulation, and analysis of targeted systems. 

Effective collaboration with teammates to produce cohesive results and create improved processes is required. 

Candidates must be U.S. citizens and be willing and able to obtain a DoD security clearance (if not already cleared).  

Minimum Qualifications

9 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; 7 years relevant experience with Masters in related field; 4 years relevant experience with PhD or Juris Doctorate in realted field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 13 years relevant experience.

 

You will meet our minimum qualifications if you… 
•    Are a United States citizen with the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance 
•    Have a bachelor’s ABET accredited degree with 5+ years of experience in a relevant engineering discipline 
•    Or have a master’s ABET accredited degree in a relevant engineering discipline 

•    Experience with algorithms and processing steps applied to digitized RF data found in telecom, satcom, and software defined radios (SDRs). 

•    Experience with the design or verification of digital front ends (DFEs) used modern RF-SOCs. 

•    Have the ability to learn new skills quickly 

Preferred Requirements

You will go above and beyond if you… 

•    Already possess an active security clearance 

•    Have experience with designing RF 

•    Have experience with Radio Resource Management functionalities, e.g., handover control, admission controls, capacity management, etc. 

•    Have experience with 3G, 4G, LTE, 5G and Wireless Broadband technologies 

•    Have experience with modifying hardware to perform non-intended tasks 

•    Have experience with Software Defined Radio systems
