HII-Mission Technologies is seeking passionate individuals to join our team in partnership with the Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA) under the Object Based Intelligence and Quality Assurance (OBIQUA) task order. Your work will directly support the unification and operationalization of AI across the Defense Intelligence Enterprise, facilitating Joint All-Domain Operations (JADO) by enabling rapid decision-making and seamless information sharing, ultimately providing crucial warfighting advantages.

What you will do
The Data Engineer (OBI Advanced Analytic Method Augmentation), Designs, implements, and operates data management systems for intelligence needs.
• Design and Optimize Data Systems: Design, implement, and operate data management systems for intelligence needs, including defining data storage, access, usage, and integration strategies. This involves optimizing data throughput, query performance, and selecting appropriate backend database technologies (SQL, NoSQL, HPC).
• Develop and Refine ETL Pipelines: Create and refine resilient, scalable Extract, Transform, Load (ETL) pipelines using industry-standard tools (e.g., Apache NiFi) for data acquisition, normalization, enrichment, and delivery across enterprise systems, ensuring adherence to security controls and SLAs.
• Implement and Maintain Databases and APIs: Design, implement, and maintain scalable relational and non-relational database solutions (e.g., PostgreSQL) for data ingestion, storage, retrieval, and analytics. Develop and maintain GraphQL APIs for flexible and efficient data access across distributed sources.
• Manage Data Integration and Redundancy: Discover and design solutions for efficiently integrating or consolidating redundant data sources to reduce costs and ensure enterprise-wide consistency.
• Lead Technical Projects and Studies: Manage complex, long-term projects involving the design, development, and installation of new information systems, including performing technical studies and feasibility analyses.
• Conduct Comprehensive Testing: Create and execute detailed test plans and scenarios for databases and data services, covering component, integration, system, compatibility, user acceptance, and performance/stress tests. Conduct operational readiness testing.
• Monitor, Upgrade, and Troubleshoot Systems: Continuously monitor services and upgrade data services, content management systems, and databases. Analyze performance reports and diagnose/resolve service and database failures, providing immediate fixes and implementing permanent corrections.
• Develop Disaster Recovery Plans: Create and maintain disaster recovery plans to ensure data and access reliability and database integrity during crises.
• Evaluate and Recommend Technologies: Analyze, evaluate, and provide recommendations on new, current, and planned data service, data management, and database technologies and architectures based on performance, cost, and security. Assess current trends and the impact of emerging technologies.
• Manage Unstructured Data and Automation: Develop solutions to manage, organize, and transform unstructured data, ensuring its integrity and security. Leverage containerization (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes) and infrastructure as code tools for resource management, repeatability, and automation.
• Communicate and Collaborate: Interface with vendors, programmers, and users to identify and resolve problems, evaluate user-requested changes, and plan updates. Prepare and present technical briefings to senior management on complex data management issues.
• Support Capability Development: Contribute to, edit, and store code in Government-owned/controlled source version control repositories.

What we are looking for
• 5 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; 3 years relevant experience with Masters in related field; 0 years experience with PhD or Juris Doctorate in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 9 years relevant experience.
• Clearance: Must possess and maintain a TS/SCI with a current Poly
• Proven ability to design, implement, and operate robust data management systems, defining how data is stored, accessed, used, and integrated across diverse platforms. This includes expertise in selecting and optimizing various backend database technologies (e.g., SQL, NoSQL, HPC) and managing full data pipeline infrastructures.
• Proficiency in creating and executing comprehensive test plans for databases and data services (component, integration, system, performance/stress, user acceptance tests) and supporting operational readiness.
• Familiarity with containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes) and infrastructure as code tools to manage and provision resources, ensuring repeatability and automation.
• Strong analytical skills to diagnose and resolve complex data service and database issues, including developing temporary fixes and implementing permanent solutions
• Demonstrates ability to work independently and with minimal oversight
Preferred Requirements
• Bachelors with 8 years of experience
• Recent applicable experience within the last 2 years
• Experience managing large, long-term projects involving the design, development, and installation of new information systems, including conducting technical feasibility studies.
• Proactive approach to researching, evaluating, and providing recommendations on new and emerging data service, data management, and database technologies, assessing their impact and applicability to existing infrastructure.
