Job Description
The HII USAFE team is responsible for the architecture, engineering, and deployment of information technology networks. The Network Engineer on the HII team will support all aspects of the design, engineering, implementation, and troubleshooting of switch and routed network infrastructure with a focus on stability, automation, and innovation.
The Network Engineer is responsible for serving multiple customers developing and managing plans across the USAFE team. Also, responsible for overseeing the modernization program contained at one primary geographic location. However, covering remote locations and multiple functions and team members directly assigned to program. Program may require new technologies.
Essential Job Responsibilities
Designs and plans network systems. Provides specifications and detailed schematics for network architecture. Provides specific, detailed information for hardware and software selection, implementation techniques, and tools for the most efficient solution to meet business needs, including present and future capacity requirements. Conducts testing of network systems. Maintains technical expertise in all areas of network and computer hardware and software interconnection and interfacing, such as routers, switchers, firewalls, hubs, bridges, gateways, etc. Evaluates and reports on new network technologies to enhance capabilities of the network.
Minimum Qualifications
- 5 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; 3 years relevant experience with Masters in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 9 years relevant experience
- In-depth understanding of LAN/WAN technologies, IP networking, and telecommunications standards.
- Proficiency in using network monitoring and management tools.
- Certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, or equivalent are highly desirable
- Active DOD TS clearance at minimum required.
Preferred Requirements
- Troubleshooting LAN/MAN/WAN and other network related problems
- Providing technical expertise for performance and configuration of networks
- Performing general LAN/BAN/WAN administration
- Providing technical leadership in the integration and test of complex large-scale computer integrated networks
- Installation, configuring, troubleshooting, and setting up the lab for various networks.
- Testing, evaluating, and configuration management of the network.
- Ability to work in a virtual team environment.
- Able to conduct research into networking issues as required with proven analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Physical Requirements
May require working in an office, industrial, shipboard, or laboratory environment. Capable of climbing ladders and tolerating confined spaces and extreme temperature variances.
