Summary
HII Mission-Technologies is seeking a CST-Certified Lead Technology Installer for a temporary (90 day) assignment at the United States Air Forces in Europe – United States Air Forces Africa Warfare Center (UAWC). This highly skilled professional will support a critical mission by leading the technology installation and logistics operations for a new Special Access Program Facility (SAPF). The Lead Installer will be responsible for managing the supply chain of all technology components, ensuring the efficient, timely, and secure movement of new and existing IT, A/V, and simulation systems. This involves planning, coordinating, and evaluating the logistical actions required, identifying the specific requirements for manpower and materiel, and correlating those requirements with project plans to assure that the needed support is provided at the right time and place to the highest technical and security standards.
What You Will Do
- Lead and direct all physical installation activities for IT, A/V, and simulation systems, ensuring strict adherence to ICD-705 standards.
- Verify site readiness, coordinate the secure delivery and staging of equipment, and perform inventory and inspection of all components.
- Direct the installation of core infrastructure, including fiber optic cable trays, equipment racks, rack-mounted power (PDUs) and cooling, and redundant backbone fiber.
- Oversee the physical installation, grounding, and securing of all primary equipment racks.
- Manage the room-specific installation of systems, including racking core network hardware, reinstalling flight simulators, and installing A/V systems (projectors, screens, speakers, control systems).
- Direct the preparation of workstation furniture, power, and network drop locations.
- Supervise the routing of all horizontal cabling (fiber, audio, video, control) from the communications closet to endpoint termination points.
- Ensure all final patch connections are made correctly and all components (cables, ports, devices) are meticulously labeled according to TIA-606 standards.
- Serve as the primary point of accountability for all physical installation activities, reporting directly to the Site Security Manager (SSM).
What We Are Looking For
- 5 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; 3 years relevant experience with Masters in related field; 0 years experience with PhD or Juris Doctorate in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 9 years relevant experience.
- Certification: Active and current Construction Surveillance Technician (CST) certification is mandatory.
- Security Clearance: Must possess an active Secret security clearance.
- Experience: Recent hands-on experience leading complex IT infrastructure installations (fiber optics, equipment racks, large-scale cabling projects) within secure government facilities (SCIF/SAPF), demonstrating a deep, practical understanding of ICD-705 compliance.
- Technical Skills:
- Knowledge of fiber optic installation techniques, including pulling, and management.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting architectural blueprints, network diagrams, and technical schematics.
- Strong hands-on skills with installing physical network hardware, racks, and cable management systems in an ICD-705 envelope.
- Leadership: Proven ability to lead, mentor, and manage a technical installation team effectively under tight deadlines.
