This opportunity resides with All-Domain Operations (ADO), a business group within HII’s Mission Technologies division. All-Domain Operations comprises multi-domain operations, platforms and logistics, and intelligence operations.

Job Description

This is an UNPAID internship through the DoD SkillBridge Program for transitioning active-duty US military personnel. DoD SkillBridge Internships are available to help transitioning active-duty military personnel gain real-world experience in the work force sometime during their final 180 days of active-duty service. The intern will actively train on meaningful projects and work closely with a mentor and with senior company leadership. HII Mission Technologies (HII-MT) Internship programs are focused on placing transitioning military into internships that require KSAs, Education & Military Training similar to their current or previous military jobs; positions that could easily transition over to a full-time regular and permanent job with HII-MT.

 

Skill Bridge intern will train as an Administrative Executive Assistant (Staff Officer) within USFK J2 JIOC-K, reporting to HII MTC Senior Program Manager, with goals of learning fundamentals and managing executive-level administrative operations for the J26 Intelligence Operations Division, proficiently handling classified intelligence support functions, travel coordination, and multi-network task management in a joint operational environment. Intern also will be assigned special projects as needed.

 

Desired End State: 1 July to 29 Sep 2026 (90 days)

 

During internship, intern will strengthen following skill sets and execute job requirements outlined in SIA 3 JIOC-K Performance Work Statement dtd 4 Feb 2026. At end of internship, intern may be hired permanently contingent on work performance during internship, vacancy availability, and Government’s concurrence:

 

Executive Operations & Intelligence Administration

  • Master calendar management and coordination for senior intelligence leadership and staff.
  • Draft and process intelligence-related correspondence across all classification levels (UNCLAS through TS//SCI).
  • Execute Intelligence RFI Validation Officer duties: review, validate, assign, monitor, and close intelligence requests.
  • Maintain records and files iaw DoW and Intelligence Community (IC) regulations.

 

Travel & Resource Management

  • Achieve proficiency in Defense Travel System (DTS) as reviewer and non-DTS entry agent.
  • Process travel authorizations, vouchers, and claims for military and civilian personnel.
  • Monitor and update USFK J2 Manpower, Manning & Personnel (MM&P) database.
  • Track civilian/military awards, recognition programs, and security requests.

 

Joint Operational Support

  • Navigate and manage tasks across multiple classification networks (NIPR/SIPR/CX-K/JWICS).
  • Support exercise surge operations (two major exercises annually).
  • Apply Status of Forces Agreement (SOFA) requirements to daily operations.
  • Coordinate with Government personnel and external intelligence agencies effectively.

  • Be available during core hours for critical meetings and training.

Essential Job Responsibilities

Training Plan

PHASE 1 FOUNDATION (Weeks 1-3)

Week 1 – Orientation & Security Integration
• Complete in-processing, security briefings, facility orientation; establish NIPR/SIPR/CX-K/JWICS access.
• Review USFK J2 structure, mission priorities, and intelligence workflows.
• Shadow administrative staff to observe operations and leadership protocols.

Week 2 – Administrative Systems & Tools
• Training on correspondence formats: staff summaries, memos, information/decision papers, meeting minutes.
• Introduction to records management and filing procedures IAW DoD regulations.
• Begin calendar management and VTC scheduling under supervision.

Week 3 – Intelligence RFI Process
• Study RFI validation, assignment protocols, and IC coordination channels.
• Practice RFI review/refinement with mentor; understand monitoring and closeout requirements.

 

PHASE 2 SKILL DEVELOPMENT (Weeks 4-8)

Week 4 – DTS Certification
• Complete DTS reviewer and non-DTS entry agent training.
• Process sample travel authorizations, vouchers, claims with supervisor review.
• Learn conference coordination and travel document preparation.

Week 5 – Multi-Network Task Management
• Manage tasks across NIPR/SIPR/CX-K/JWICS; track suspenses and provide updates.
• Coordinate multi-level staffing actions and practice prioritization techniques.

Week 6 – Advanced Correspondence & Coordination
• Draft classified intelligence correspondence independently for quality review.
• Coordinate meetings with Government personnel and external agencies.
• Manage visitor coordination and telephone screening.

Week 7 – Personnel & Awards Administration
• Training in MM&P database updates and verification procedures.
• Learn awards tracking, nomination processes, and recognition timelines.
• Process security requests and personnel action coordination.

Week 8 – SOFA & Korea Operations
• Study SOFA requirements and Korea Theater protocols.
• Mid-program assessment: demonstrate core administrative proficiency.

 

PHASE 3 INTEGRATION & AUTONOMY (Weeks 9-12)

Week 9 – Exercise Support
• Review exercise surge support and rapid response coordination procedures.
• Practice priority management during simulated exercise conditions.

Week 10 – Independent Operations
• Assume primary responsibility for director/deputy calendar and correspondence.
• Process RFIs, DTS actions, and tasks independently with spot-check oversight.

Week 11 – Full Operational Capability
• Manage all functions without supervision; mentor provides QA only.
• Demonstrate proficiency across all networks and intelligence processes.

Week 12 – Completion & Transition
• Final performance assessment against learning goals.
• Leadership out-brief with feedback and development recommendations.
• Transition to full-time status; establish ongoing training plan.

 

Additional Goals
• Network with JIOC-K personnel and learn missions/operations.
• Facilitate possible HII employment under SIA 3 JIOC-K contract.

Minimum Qualifications

Active-Duty Military ONLY within final 180 days of active-duty service. Applications accepted within final 12-months of active-duty US Military service. Education and Experience dependent on Program of Instruction.

  • SIA 3 JIOC-K LCAT requirements for Administrative Executive Assistant (Staff Officer)
    • Desired Experience: Min 3 years of relevant experience with least portion of experience within last 2 years     
    • Desired Education: Relevant bachelor’s degree. Addl 4 years of experience in specific LCAT may be substituted for bachelor’s degree, for total of 7 years of experience in specific LCAT, .     
  • Security requirements of Active TS/SCI clearance required. TS/SCI w/CI Poly preferred. If hired post-Skillbridge internship, DIA Security Nomination Package to include in-scope CI polygraph is required to be approved.
