Job Description

Designs, modifies, develops and writes software for web-based applications. Develops front-end software to enhance Hydroid web applications.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Design and Develop front-end software solutions for web-based applications.
  • Develop web applications using latest technologies.
  • Create wireframes and design artifacts for new features.
  • Host UI design reviews to the team.
  • Utilizes agile practices to collaborate and deliver robust code.
  • Uses revision control system for source code (Git).
  • Provides training to Hydroid personnel on all new software features.
  • Provides and maintains detailed list of bug fixes, and new features with each release such that customer support can assist REMUS users.
  • Provides input for manuals on new features.
  • Provides input for training slides on new features.
  • Discusses requests with users for clarification and recommends modifications to lower costs, enhance usability or expand functionality.
  • Travels to offsite locations as required, maybe overseas.
  • Follows safety procedures as set forth by the company.

Essential Job Responsibilities

Designs, develops, documents, tests and debugs applications software and systems that contain logical and mathematical solutions. Conducts multidisciplinary research and collaborates with equipment designers and/or hardware engineers in the planning, design, development, and utilization of electronic data processing systems for product and commercial software. Determines computer user needs; analyzes system capabilities to resolve problems on program intent, output requirements, input data acquisition, programming techniques and controls; prepares operating instructions; designs and develops compilers and assemblers, utility programs, and operating systems. Ensures software standards are met.

Minimum Qualifications

  • 2 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; 0 years experience with Masters in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 6 years relevant experience.
  • Experience with JavaScript, TypeScript, HTML and CSS.
  • Experience working with modern web frameworks, libraries and tools such as: React, Angular, Material Design, Bootstrap, OpenLayers, MeteorJS, Node.js, and Webpack.
  • Experience in UI web design.
  • Experience REST API and WebSocket development.
  • Must have secret clearance #LI-MH1

Preferred Requirements


  • Experience working with databases is a plus.
  • Experience developing Microservices is a plus.
  • Experience with C/C++ development is a plus.
  • Experience with Java and Spring Framework development is a plus.
  • Experience in developing Progressive Web Apps (PWAs) a plus.
  • Development of software for scientific applications a plus.
  • Underwater vehicle autonomy a plus.

Physical Requirements

Adequate visual acuity and manual dexterity for meeting the requirements Software Engineer family.
