We are seeking a Production Planning Scheduler Manager to serve on our SEMAT Hawaii team located in Pearl Harbor, HI. This experienced Production Planning Scheduler Manager will be responsible for performing maintenance and maintenance training to assist shipboard personnel in the operation, maintenance, and repair of specific items of engineering systems/equipment onboard USN Surface Ships.
What You Will Do
- Assess, troubleshoot, and assist Ship’s Force personnel in the performance of minor repairs, adjustments, and testing on Hull, Machinery, and Electrical (HM&E), shipboard habitability, Damage Control, and refueling stations systems/equipment onboard USN Surface Ships.
- Systems/equipment to include pumps, valves, piping, closures, deck machinery, winches, capstans, auxiliary equipment, fuel oil management systems, electrical and mechanical systems, flex hoses, and etc.
- Master understanding of production and processes.
- Responsible for interfacing with customers, managing subcontractors, and ability to provide work direction to others. May provide direction and lead others.
- Responsible for meeting with SEMAT customers to include Port Engineers, USN Shipboard Leadership, and Waterfront Managers to coordinate troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair of HM&E systems/equipment.
- Track multiple jobs for the team. Completes comprehension of specialty trades functions and tools. Performs a variety of complicated and non-routine tasks.
- Develop and use technical documents including controlled work packages, formal work processes and procedures, test documents, reports, and task or trip reports.
- Plans, prepares, issues and controls production schedules and coordinates with material requirements to ensure a controlled flow of approved materials timed to meet production requirements.
- Advices management of the status of work in progress, material availability, and potential production problems to ensure that personnel, equipment, materials and services are provided as needed.
- Schedules equipment and personnel, confirms material supply and demands, prepares work orders or purchase requests for the production or purchase of components or parts based on a master production schedule, shop load and inventory requirements.
- Coordinates interdepartmental activity with equality assurance, manufacturing, purchasing, engineering, inventory control, traffic, etc.; schedules and expedites the movement of parts by means of move orders, stock transfers and requests for shipping orders.
What You Must Have
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a DOD Confidential security clearance.
- Must have experience as a shipboard marine mechanical trades specialty with 8 or more years of shipboard maintenance and repair experience.
- Must be able to read and interpret equipment and systems, ship drawings and ship technical documents and manuals.
- Must be competent in the use of mechanical equipment and tools in corrective repairs efforts to accomplish ship repairs.
- Must provide own hand tools as designated per trades specialty.
- Must be physically able to climb and work on ships in an industrial environment.
- Start date contingent upon approval of base access, which is required for this position and continued employment.
- 4 years relevant progressive experience with Bachelors in related field; 2 years relevant progressive experience with Masters in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 8 years relevant progressive experience.
Bonus Points For
- Recent Hull, Machinery, and Electrical (HM&E) maintenance and repair experience on USN Surface Ships.
- Recent Marine Mechanic shipboard experience on USN ships.
- A current, valid DOD Confidential security clearance or higher
Physical Requirements
Must be able to lift, carry and transport heavy equipment and boxes. The exact weight requirements will be determined by the specific job, but no less than 30 lbs.
Able to work on and climb ladders, work in extreme temperature environments, aboard ships, in shipyards, under industrial conditions and in confined spaces.
Able to perform other duties as required which may involve high heat, humidity, noise and dirty conditions, working aloft or over the sides of vessels.
May ride ships at sea for extended periods.
May require wearing a respirator.
Travel may be required within and outside of the continental United States.
