Job Description

HII’s Mission Technologies division develops integrated solutions that enable today’s connected, all-domain force. Capabilities include C5ISR systems and operations; the application of AI and machine learning to battlefield decisions; defensive and offensive cyberspace strategies and EW; unmanned, autonomous systems; LVC solutions; platform modernization; and critical nuclear operations.

HII is looking for a qualified Flight Manual Subject Matter Expert to support the AFLCMC/WB, Bomber Directorate Team at Edwards AFB, CA.  Top Secret/SCI clearance is required.

Essential Job Responsibilities

 

  • To assist in the supervision and execution of all aspects of the Aircrew Flight Manual Program (FMP) as a Flight Manual Manager (FMM).
  • Support the implementation of the TO Lifecycle process for developing flight manuals, performance manuals, and weapons release manuals for a weapon system.
  • Participates and monitors with the program manager the acquisition program of new aircraft, systems, sub-systems, sustainment, upgrade modifications, and/or de-modifications to ensure all flight manuals (FM) are current and prepared in accordance with appropriate MIL-SPECS throughout the program life-cycle.
  • Accomplishes detailed pre and final publication development and formatting for adequacy and technical accuracy of assigned MDS ensuring compliance with Air Force specifications.
  • Support the verification/validation, by performance, all modifications, de-modifications, software upgrades, crew procedures, etc. to the aircraft prior to any changes being applied to the FM.
  • Support development, review, and coordination of logistics support documentation including Life Cycle Sustainment Plans (LCSP), Technical Orders (TOs), Training Coursework and Manuals, and technical data products.
  • Support evaluation of logistics systems requirements, designs, and products to ensure the weapon system satisfies the integrated Product Support Elements.

Minimum Qualifications

  • 15 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; 13 years relevant experience with Masters in related field; 10 years relevant experience with PhD or Juris Doctorate in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 19 years relevant experience.
  • Military pilot, certified engineer, flight crewmember, personnel with military aircrew experience using flight manuals or experience as a Flight Manual Manager.
  • Knowledge of aircraft systems, ground and inflight aircrew procedures, and airmanship principles.
  • Top Secret/SCI clearance is required.

Preferred Requirements

  • Experience developing, updating, and managing USAF flight manuals.
  • Experience in S1000D, International Specification for Technical Publications using a common source database is highly desirable.
  • Experience implementing the TO Lifecycle process for developing flight manuals, performance manuals, and weapons release manuals for a weapon system.
  • Experience verifying, creating and updating technical orders, to include flight manuals.
  • Familiar with and meet the requirements of AFI 11-215, USAF Flight Manual Program
  • Knowledge of Air Force MAJCOM and base level flying operations organizational structure.
  • Knowledge of Air Force regulations, policies, and specifications pertaining to the acquisition, budgeting, management, publishing, storage, and distribution of FMs/TO.
  • Ability to communicate orally and in writing, to maintain good working relations. to plan and organize work.
  • Ability to use Desktop Publishing software, and other office automation tools and techniques to design and generate reports, briefing materials, and/or comparable documents.
  • Ability to identify problems and develop innovative solutions.
  • Knowledge of security, safety, and environmental requirements in the workplace and on an AF flight line.
