Job Description

*This position is contingent upon proposal award.

Technical Solutions is currently seeking a Lead Software Manager with simulation experience to work out of their Orlando office on our Naval Air Warfare Center Training Systems Division (NAWCTSD) Indefinite Delivery/Indefinite Quantity (IDIQ) contract and other future training solutions.

Duties and Responsibilities (to include but not be limited to the following):

  • This position is expected to have direct technical oversight over assigned projects and indirect oversight over all projects being supported by personnel he/she manages.
  • Manage direct reports, including labor planning (including assigning personnel to projects), financial budgets, engineering tasking, and oversight of engineering staff in one or more engineering disciplines
  • Responsible for ensuring project work products and deliverables are developed in accordance with organizational standard processes
  • Conduct technical reviews to ensure performance and progress align with program (cost, schedule, and technical) objectives, while proactively ensuring a robust risk management posture. 
  • Prevent and remediate underperforming projects
  • Establish and support program and organizational objectives
  • Facilitate and reinforce successful multi-disciplinary project execution
  • Solve complex technical and management problems requiring in-depth analysis of various factors
  • Interview, hire, coach and train employees, while appraising employee performance, while rewarding and disciplining employees.  Address complaints and resolve problems.
  • Work with Program Managers to develop technical proposal volume, proposal estimates, work breakdown structures (WBS) schedules and risk assessments.
  • Work closely, collaboratively and communicates effectively with all members of the project team including government and contractors
  • Ability to work independently on project tasks with minimal supervision
  • Minimum travel expected


Essential Job Responsibilities

Researches, designs, develops, and/or modifies enterprise-wide systems and/or applications software. Involved in planning of system and development deployment as well as responsible for meeting software compliance standards. Evaluates interface between hardware and software, operational requirements, and characteristics of overall system. Documents testing and maintenance of system corrections.


Minimum Qualifications

4 years relevant progressive experience with Bachelors in related field; 2 years relevant progressive experience with Masters in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 6 years relevant progressive experience.

  • Relevant software work experience
  • Software design and development experience
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD SECRET-level Clearance
Preferred Requirements
  • Master’s Degree in Computer Science, Software or Electrical Engineering or similar technical degree
  • Management/leadership experience in fast-paced engineering environment
  • Demonstrated track record of success in delivering results
  • Experience working with DoN/DoD customers, projects, and processes
Physical Requirements
May be required to visit job site in an industrial or shipboard environment. Normally not required to lift more than 40 pounds higher than three feet above feet/floor level.
