Job Description

HII Mission Technologies is seeking a highly experienced MANPADS Integrated Threat Simulator III (MITSS) Technician to support advanced aircrew survivability training at our Pine Castle, FL location. This senior-level role is responsible for operating, maintaining, and troubleshooting the MITSS system and associated hardware to simulate infrared missile threats in live training environments. The ideal candidate will bring deep technical expertise in RF, analog/digital systems, and pyrotechnic safety, along with leadership in system sustainment and mission execution.

 

Essential Job Responsibilities

  • Operate and maintain the MANPADS Integrated Threat Simulator/Stimulator (MITSS) and associated systems.

  • Perform complex troubleshooting, isolate malfunctions, and repair systems to the component level.

  • Interpret technical manuals and engineering documentation to incorporate system upgrades and engineering changes.

  • Use advanced test equipment such as spectrum analyzers, pulse generators, and waveform analyzers.

  • Set up and deploy MITSS equipment in support of live training missions; may require physical exertion and outdoor work.

  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to lower-level technicians and operators.

  • Cross-train and operate at least two additional systems, including the WISS scoring system and networking infrastructure.

  • Serve as Alternate Laser System Safety Observer (ALSO) and Range Safety Officer when designated.

  • Communicate professionally with aircrews during live training missions.

  • Perform organizational and intermediate-level maintenance on assigned systems.

  • Document all maintenance actions in the Integrated Electronic Maintenance System (IEMS).

  • Perform courier duties and support equipment transport as required.

  • Adhere to all environmental, safety, and health standards, including proper PPE usage and hazard reporting.

  • Complete all assigned training, including NITE SharePoint modules, TWMS courses, and non-recurring requirements.

  • Travel up to 50% in support of mission operations under Joint Travel Regulations.

  • Must be operationally qualified at designated tech level within 180 days of hire or promotion.

  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.

Minimum Qualifications

High School Diploma or equivalent and 4 years related experience.

  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in RF systems, electronic warfare simulators, or similar military/defense systems.

  • Proficiency in analog/digital circuit analysis, RF diagnostics, and system-level troubleshooting.

  • Experience with test equipment such as spectrum analyzers, distortion analyzers, and computer-based diagnostic tools.

  • Ability to interpret schematics, technical manuals, and engineering documentation.

  • Must be able to obtain certification to handle and launch pyrotechnics if required.

  • Strong communication skills and ability to interact professionally with aircrews and mission personnel.

  • SECRET security clearance required.

  • Willingness to travel and work flexible hours based on mission schedules.

  • Physical ability to lift, move, and deploy equipment in outdoor environments.

  • Previous experience on NITE related contract

Physical Requirements

May require working in an industrial or shipboard environment. Normally not required to lift more than 40 pounds higher than three feet above feet/floor level. May encounter extremes of temperature, pollution, humidity, noise, and other environmental factors while collecting data, observing performance of task teams.
