Job Description
HII Mission Technologies is seeking a highly experienced Communications Technician III to support the Navy Integrated Training Environment (NITE) at our Pinecastle location. This senior-level role is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and upgrading complex RF and digital communication systems. The ideal candidate will bring advanced technical expertise, leadership in system sustainment, and the ability to operate in dynamic, mission-critical environments. This position also supports live combat training missions and requires operational flexibility, tower climbing certification, and travel up to 50%.
Essential Job Responsibilities

Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair all communications equipment, including RF systems, towers, I/O systems, and associated infrastructure.

Apply advanced diagnostics to resolve complex issues beyond standard documentation; perform component-level repairs and incorporate engineering changes.

Conduct Preventive and Corrective Maintenance in accordance with technical manuals, TCTOs, and Job Qualification Standards (JQS).

Use advanced test equipment (e.g., spectrum analyzers, pulse generators, site masters, distortion analyzers) to analyze circuits and signal flow.

Write, review, and update Work Instructions (WI), procedures, and configuration documentation.

Accurately document all maintenance actions in the Integrated Electronic Maintenance System (IEMS).

Provide technical guidance and on-the-job training to lower-level technicians; ensure personnel are qualified for assigned tasks.

Identify training needs and coordinate with training specialists to ensure compliance with qualification timelines.

Support special tests, system evaluations, equipment relocations, and new installations.
-
Coordinate integration efforts with associate contractors and interface with work center supervisors to align tasking and services.

Perform corrosion control on towers and communications equipment.
-
Operate and maintain electronic scoring systems, range targets, and simulator systems.
-
Monitor live combat training missions, communicate with military aviators via radio, and record scoring data using computerized systems.

Maintain access control and security systems; perform facility and range asset maintenance.
-
Drive pickup trucks, ATVs, and heavy equipment; work outdoors in variable conditions, including exposure to wildlife.

Climb and descend towers while carrying equipment; qualify as Alternate Laser System Safety Observer (ALSO) and live drop safety observer.

Complete all assigned training (e.g., NITE SharePoint modules, TWMS courses) and ensure proper documentation in training jackets.

Travel up to 50% in support of mission requirements under Joint Travel Regulations.

Must be operationally qualified at designated tech level within 90 days of hire or promotion.

Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Minimum Qualifications
High School Diploma or equivalent and 6 years related experience.

Minimum of 5 years of experience in RF and communications systems maintenance, preferably in a DoD or defense contracting environment.

Proficiency with advanced test equipment and RF diagnostics.

Strong understanding of RF theory, signal processing, circuit analysis, and system integration.

Ability to interpret schematics, technical manuals, and configuration documentation.

Certified or capable of certification in tower climbing and safety procedures.

Ability to work outdoors for extended periods and in variable environmental conditions.

Strong leadership, documentation, and communication skills.
-
SECRET security clearance required.

Willingness to work flexible hours and travel up to 50% based on mission schedules.
Preferred Requirements

DoD 8570 IAT Level I certification (e.g., CompTIA A+, Network+, or equivalent).

Previous experience on NITE related contract
Physical Requirements
Job performance requires adequate visual acuity and manual dexterity for meeting the requirements of the job. A waterfront office work environment is normally encountered.
