Summary
MAF DMO Systems Administrator Job Description Mission Technologies, a division of Huntington Ingalls Industries, is looking for a qualified individual to fill the role of Systems Administrator for the Mobility Air Forces Distributed Mission Operations (MAF DMO) program. The successful candidate will join a robust technology team that supports all Distributed Mission Operations (DMO) events, mission networks, site-connection activities, cyber security, and other related functions.
This role is on-site only; remote or hybrid work is not eligible.

What you will do
Maintain smooth operation of multi-user computer systems, including coordination with network administrators. Duties may include setting up administrator and service accounts, maintaining system documentation, tuning system performance, installing system-wide software, and allocating mass storage space. Interact with users and evaluate vendor products. Make hardware- and software-purchase recommendations, coordinate installations, and provide backup-and-recovery support. Develop and monitor policies and standards for computing-resource usage.
Specific duties include, but not limited to:
- Design, install, support, and maintain MAF mission-network servers, computer equipment, and peripheral connections.
- Configure software, modify software settings, and perform basic configuration management in accordance (IAW) with all Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs) and other cybersecurity requirements, including Joint Services Implementation Guide (JSIG).
- Plan for and respond to service outages and other technical issues.
- Collaborate on project teams to design and integrate Operational Testing & Training Infrastructure (OTTI) technologies and MAF DMO solutions to meet mission requirements.
- Provide software-application assistance for commonly used office-automation programs and modeling-and-simulation tools.
- Support Host-Based Security System (HBSS) and Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) solutions, including continuous monitoring.
- Implement software patches, security fixes, and service-release updates on client workstations.
- Identify, analyze, and document long-range infrastructure requirements.
- Travel as required, including international assignments.
What you must have
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field + 3 years of relevant experience, OR
- Master’s degree in a related field + 1 year of relevant experience, OR
- High school diploma (or equivalent) + 7 years of relevant experience
Certifications
- Department of Defense (DoD) 8570 Information Assurance Technician (IAT) Level II certification
Technical Skills
- Experience implementing and supporting Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) and Microsoft Windows NT operating systems—both bare-metal and virtual-machine (VM) installations
- Experience configuring software, modifying settings, and performing configuration management per STIGs, JSIG, and other cybersecurity standards
- Hands-on administration of core VMware® technologies, including VMware vCenter®, ESXi®, vSphere® networking, and vMotion®
- Experience managing NetApp® Storage Area Network (SAN) technology
- Basic knowledge of Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager (MECM) for application and update deployments
- Ability to analyze network traffic and troubleshoot Distributed Interactive Simulation (DIS)/High Level Architecture (HLA) packets using Wireshark® or a Data Packet Analyzer (DPA) tool
Citizenship & Clearance
- Must be a United States (US) citizen
- Must hold a current or active DoD Secret security clearance and maintain throughout employment.
Preferred Requirements
- Advanced experience designing, configuring, implementing, and maintaining VMware technologies, including VMware Horizon® virtual desktop infrastructure
- In-depth NetApp SAN clustering and performance tuning knowledge
- Platform performance analysis, telemetry, and troubleshooting experience
- Experience configuring Cisco® routers, firewalls, Nexus® switches, and Catalyst® switches
- Administration of Atlassian® Jira® and Confluence® products
- Working knowledge of scripting languages such as PowerShell®, Python®, or Bash®
- Building application packages, Automatic Deployment Rules, and Task Sequences within MECM
- Ansible® configuration management and playbook deployment experience
- Strong track record of implementing IT best practices in end-user environments
- Familiarity with IT-audit and security-assessment processes
- Ability to prioritize tasks and manage work assignments effectively
Physical Requirements
- Adequate visual acuity and manual dexterity for systems-administrator tasks
- Occasional lifting or carrying of small equipment or boxes of records
