Job Description

HII is looking for a qualified individual to fill the role of Project Manager for their Advanced Modeling and Simulation Technical Operation. This is a multi-faceted role, requiring the candidate to simultaneously manage multiple small to mid-scale IT and Communications systems installation projects, both locally and via remote means.  

Essential Job Responsibilities

•    Managing complex IT and Communications engineering projects to include:
o    Decomposing and refining tasking into project objectives by reviewing project proposals and plans, while conferring with management.
o    Assisting in the definition of project scope and objectives, involving all relevant stakeholders, and ensuring technical feasibility.
o    Determining project responsibilities by identifying project phases, resource requirements, and other necessary elements.
o    Determining project schedules by studying project plans and specifications, calculating time requirements, and sequencing project elements.
o    Maintaining project schedules by monitoring project progress, coordinating activities and resolving problems.
o    Coordinating amongst various teams in different engineering disciplines to present a unified, integrated product to project stakeholders.  
o    Preparing project status reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends, and recommending actions.
o    Defining, generating, and reviewing project requirements documentation.
o    Monitoring projects to ensure work scope, schedule, and budget are well defined and maintained.
o    Performing risk management to minimize project risks.
o    Meeting budgetary objectives and making adjustments to project constraints based upon financial analysis.
o    Ensuring that project management methodologies used are in line with organizational processes.
o    Leading a teams of project engineers to complete Complex IT and Communications System installations.
o    Engaging with and managing the work of subcontractor installation companies. 
o    Staying abreast of current Industry best practices.

Minimum Qualifications

2 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; 0 years experience with Masters in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 6 years relevant experience.

In some cases, educational requirements may be adjusted or waived for applicable work experience. Work experience may be adjusted for highly specialized knowledge or uniquely applicable experience.

•    B.S./B.A. and 3-5+ years of experience 
•    Technical background in IT or Communications.
•    Experience managing the design and installations of complex IT or Communications related systems, to include management of construction and deployment schedules, subcontractors, and vendors.  
•    Experience managing complex Microsoft Project or other project management software plans.
•    Experience working in a government contracting environment.
•    Solid organizational skills including attention to detail.
•    Self-motivated and driven desire to succeed with minimal direction.
•    Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
•    Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
•    Excellent writing and verbal communication skills.
•    Ability to travel including internationally, spend extended periods on travel in support of installation projects (1-2 weeks per trip, 1-2 Trips/quarter) as needed.  
•    Must have a current DoD Secret Clearance.
 

Preferred Requirements

•    Certification in Project/Program Management (e.g. PMP, PgMP, CAPM, PMI-ACP, PRINCE II, etc.).
