As the Navy TACAIR Task SME, the selected candidate will play a critical role in supporting the Navy Warfare Development Center at Norfolk Naval Station, delivering Live Virtual Constructive (LVC) training across all Areas of Responsibility (AORs). The position requires flexibility to work non-standard work hours and work weeks of more than 40 hours to meet business, customer, and contractual requirements. #LI-MJ1

What you will do

NAVY TACAIR SME will serve as the Navy Tactical Air subject matter expert, ensuring seamless integration of aviation responsibilities into training events and operations. This high-impact position requires exceptional leadership, communication, and technical expertise to coordinate with military, government, and contractor teams to provide the following.

Leadership & Coordination:

  • Act as the primary Navy Tactical Air (TACAIR) lead for HICON (Higher Headquarters Control), providing tactical air expertise for all Fleet Synthetic Training (FST-O) events.

  • Ensure all HICON aviation responsibilities are incorporated into the planning and execution of Maritime Operations Center-Exercise Support Team (MOC-EST) training events.

  • Coordinate JFACC (Joint Force Air Component Commander) integration into the HICON command structure.

  • Liaise with Air Operations Centers (AOCs) to ensure alignment with training objectives.

Technical Expertise:

  • Maintain current Navy Air Warfare doctrine and tactics to ensure training fidelity for all audiences.

  • Provide expert knowledge of Joint Semi-Automated Forces (JSAF) training systems, including hands-on operation during training events involving Navy Tactical Air.

  • Assist in the assimilation of TACAIR doctrine and Command and Control into event planning and execution.

Training Support:

  • Prepare briefings and deliver training for HICON augmentees supporting exercise execution.

  • Identify key roles and requirements for HICON augmentee teams.

  • Support onsite and distributed training events at Norfolk and other designated locations.

  • Other duties as assigned. 

What you must have

  • 5 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; 3 years relevant experience with Masters in related field; 0 years experience with PhD or Juris Doctorate in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 9 years relevant experience.
  • Must have familiarity with Live Virtual Constructive (LVC) training constructs and Joint Forces Air Component Commander (JFACC) procedures.
  • Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across organizational levels.
  • Proficiency in MS Office tools.
  • Must have a current or active DoD Secret Clearance (with the potential for Top Secret upgrade).
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.
  • Position requires flexibility to work non-standard hours and extended weeks to meet mission-critical needs.

Preferred Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience in Naval strike group air operations.
  • Operational experience with CVW (Carrier Air Wing) operations.
  • Advanced knowledge of JSAF and other joint synthetic training systems.
  • Experience with Navy training systems and command structures.
  • Previous assignments on Joint Staff or at headquarters-level roles.
  • Graduate of Top Gun or Strike Lead-qualified aviator.

Physical Requirements

May require working in an office, industrial, shipboard, or laboratory environment. Capable of climbing ladders and tolerating confined spaces and extreme temperature variances.
