Job Description

This position is for an experienced Quality Analyst who will be working as a part of the Quality Assurance Team during an engineering overhaul of naval submarines. Candidate should have experience with quality assurance inspections in a depot level maintenance availability.This position will be located in Newport News Virginia.

Essential Job Responsibilities

Develops and implements program quality plans and procedures. Ensures that performance and quality products conform to established company and regulatory standards. Reviews, analyzes and reports on quality discrepancies and data related to production. Investigates problems and develops disposition and corrective actions for recurring discrepancies. Interfaces with stakeholders to ensure requirements are met. Recommends corrective actions, dispositions, process optimization and modifications.

 

Minimum Qualifications

6 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; 4 years relevant experience with Masters in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 10 years relevant experience.

  • The selected candidate must have prior operational or maintenance experience on naval submarines in a shipyard environment. 

  • SUBSAFE work documentation/evaluation/certification background.

  • Submarine Force, USN, experience with an aptitude toward data evaluation, attention to detail, and associative/relational thinking.

  • Experience with Navy Work Authorization Forms (WAF’s) and tag-outs using the electronic Shift Operating Management System (eSOMS) is required.

  • Must be able to work in a shipboard environment during a major availability.

  • Must be able to lift, carry, transport heavy equipment and climb ladders and stand for extended periods of time.

  • The position requires a Secret security clearance. 

Preferred Requirements

  • Preferred candidate should have experience with reading and comprehension of Technical Manuals, Testing Procedures and Technical Documentation.
  • Qualification as Quality Assurance Inspector (QAI) and Quality Assurance Supervisor (QAS) a plus.
  • Experience with Work Permits and Shipyard Inspection Report (IR) processes a plus.

Physical Requirements

Office, industrial or shipboard environment. Capable of climbing ladders and tolerating confined spaces and extreme temperature variances. Lifting and moving of materials not to exceed the guidelines set for one man lift.
