Job Description

HII - Technical Solutions Division (TSD) is currently seeking a Test Engineer for our Newport News, VA location. HII- Technical Solutions Division delivers professional services to a wide variety of government and commercial customers worldwide to include critical services to our DOD and DOE. This position will involve oversite of the construction, testing and operations of propulsion and reactor plant components. Hiring into the Maritime Operations Group will also provide unique opportunities for technical, leadership and professional development.

 

Essential Job Responsibilities

Gathers, maintains, formats, compiles, and manipulates technical data, such as laboratory or material test results and engineering design changes. Produces engineering documentation, reports, drawings (flow charts, block diagrams, and schematics). Performs detailed mathematical calculations using established formulas; preliminary analyses of data where guidelines are provided in such areas as trajectory adequacy, model dimensional consistency; and quantitative judgments concerning technical data. Uses personal computer in performance of analyses and development of documentation/reports. May conduct tests and record data to assist with engineering evaluation or analysis.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering and 0 years of relevant professional/exempt experience.

Candidate must have successfully completed an undergraduate engineering degree from an ABET accredited program.
Candidate must have participated in an engineering internship.
Candidate must have experience utilizing industry-current Engineering design and analytical or modeling software.
Candidate must have knowledge of nuclear and radiation safety principles.
 

Physical Requirements

Office, industrial or shipboard environment. Capable of climbing ladders and tolerating confined spaces and extreme temperature variances. Lifting and moving of materials not to exceed the guidelines set for one man lift.
