Job Description


HII - Technical Solutions Division (TSD) is currently seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer for our Newport News, VA location. HII- Technical Solutions Division delivers professional services to a wide variety of government and commercial customers worldwide to include critical services to our DOD and DOE.

Essential Job Responsibilities

Researches, plans, designs, verifies, validates and develops mechanical and/or electromechanical products and systems, such as metals, instruments, controls, plastics, robots, engines, machines and mechanical, resonance, hydraulic or heat transfer systems for production, transmission, measurement, and use of energy. Recommends various technology options or approaches for system, processes, facility or program improvements in terms of safety, performance, efficiency or costs. May be responsible for the transfer from R and D to manufacturing.

Minimum Qualifications

5 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; 3 years relevant experience with Masters in realted field; or 0 years experience with PhD or Juris Doctorate in related field.

• Candidate must have successfully completed an undergraduate engineering degree from an ABET accredited program
• Candidate must have experience utilizing industry-current Engineering design and analytical software
• Candidate must have experience with SOPs (standard operating procedures)
• Candidate must be able to obtain and maintain a Confidential level Security Clearance

Physical Requirements

May require working in an office, industrial, shipboard, or laboratory environment. Capable of climbing ladders and tolerating confined spaces and extreme temperature variances.
