Job Description

Join the HII Mission Technologies team.  Mission Technologies works in the only shipyard to execute the Refueling and Complex Overhaul (RCOH) of a nuclear-powered aircraft carrier.  The mid-life RCOH includes refueling of nuclear reactors, overhauling most machinery, and modernizing warfare systems.   RCOH ensures the Navy's aircraft carriers incorporate improved capabilities needed for success in the remaining 25 years of service.   Your accomplishments will make a positive impact supporting the U.S. Navy and America’s national defense!   We are seeking a Master Tradesperson 2 (Mid-level electrician) to join our growing team. The selected candidate will be supporting RCOH CEMAT Electrical Group conducting maintenance, repairs, installation and testing of nonnuclear equipment

Essential Job Responsibilities

Installs, operates, maintains, repairs and modifies equipment. Performs a variety of maintenance and technical support on products such as equipment, integrated systems and subsystems, and software at customer and/or field locations. Analyzes and evaluates products and related performance. Troubleshoots and diagnoses malfunctions to eliminate problem in minimum time. Installs, upgrades and removes products ensuring coordinative engineering field change. Maintains effective customer communications and relations. May provide onsite training of customer support personnel. Applies understanding of production and processes to assignments. Performs a variety of complicated tasks. May assist in the development and use technical documents including controlled work packages, formal work processes and procedures, test documents, reports and task or trip reports. Performs duties outside of specialty in order to complete installation or work assignment.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School diploma, or Trade School or equivalent, and 2 years of electrical experience.
  • Must be able to follow safety procedures to ensure a safe and secure work environment.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD confidential security clearance and maintain clearance level throughout employment.
  • Must be able to obtain base access credentials within 60 days of start date and maintain credentials throughout employment.
  • Must be able to provide hand tools per trade designation.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen.

Preferred Requirements

  • Candidates who has graduated from and/or completed a vocational school, apprenticeship program or a skilled trades certificate program are preferred.
  • Candidate with a current or active DoD clearance preferred.
  • Candidate with a current OSHA 10 Maritime Certification.
  • Candidate with a NAVSEA Cableway Improvement certification.
  • Candidate with previous Muli-Pin Connector experience.
  • Previous Knowledge of Navy Tag Out program, NSTM 300, and 3M manual.

Physical Requirements

Must be able to lift, carry and transport heavy equipment and boxes. The exact weight requirements will be determined by the specific job, but no less than 30 lbs. Able to work on and climb ladders, work in extreme temperature environments, aboard ships, in shipyards, under industrial conditions and in confined spaces. Able to perform other duties as required which may involve high heat, humidity, noise and dirty conditions, working aloft or over the sides of vessels. May ride ships at sea for extended periods. May require wearing a respirator. Travel may be required within and outside of the continental United States.
