Who We Are

Mission Technologies, a Division of HII is seeking a Systems Administrator 3 to support Modeling, Simulation and Training at the Joint Integrated Test and Training Center – Nellis (JITTC-N), Nellis AFB, NV.  The individual’s primary responsibility will center on providing system support of the Global Reuseable Interface Domain (GRID) to ensure optimal performance within JSE at the JITTC-N. 

What You Will Do

Maintain continuous operation of the GRID program and services to ensure effective support of missions and the Joint Simulation Environment (JSE) is operating at optimal performance levels.  This will include, but are not limited to: 

  • Setting up administrator and user service accounts. 
  • Installing system-wide software and allocate mass storage space. 
  • Performing configuration management and troubleshooting of systems which may be physical or virtual/server based. 
  • Optimize system operation and resource utilization and perform system capacity analysis and planning. 
  • Aide users in accessing and utilizing systems. 
  • Interact with users and evaluate vendor products. 
  • Make recommendations to purchase hardware and software. 
  • Coordinate installation of new and upgraded software and hardware, as well as provide fail-safe and backup systems. 
  • Develop and monitor policies and standards for allocations related to the use of available computing resources. 
  • Adhere to best practices in securely storing, backing up, and archiving data. 
  • Documenting processes related to database design, configuration and performance. 
  • Adhere to and enforce information security best practices and procedures, particularly when working with multi-level secure environments. 
  • Maintain vigilance to protect sensitive systems and data across classified enclaves. 

What You Must Have

  • 6 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; 4 years relevant experience with Masters in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 10 years relevant experience.
  • Experience with LINUX or simulator network system administration. 
  • Experience with GRID and GRID services and interactions with other JSE components. 
  • Must have had an Active TS/SCI clearance within the last 24 months. 
  • Strong troubleshooting skills in both hardware and software contexts, including integration with diverse display solutions. 
  • Demonstrated knowledge of network administration principles as they apply to simulator systems. 
  • Awareness of and adherence to information security best practices. 
  • Proficiency in performing configuration management and collaborating with other configuration managers. 
  • Detail-oriented and capable of managing complex systems in a high-stakes environment. 
  • Ability to write processes for simulator technicians and engineers. 
  • Strong oral and written communication and organizational skills to produce and maintain technical documents and procedures. 
  • Ability to create and maintain data logging procedures and reports in order to identify issues and submit deficiency reports (DRs) to relevant SMEs to find and resolve required solutions and future requirements. 
  • Must be able to work in a team environment. 
  • Must be a US citizen. 

Bonus Points For...

  • Previous or active DoD Top Secret/SCI security clearance.  
  • Certifications: Linux+ and COMPTIA+/Security+. 
  • Experience in JSE, preferably as a Systems Administrator. 
  • Previous experience with operating and maintaining Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL). 
  • Experience in software design, test and implementation within DoD flight simulators. 
  • Experience contributing to the system design or architecture of new and current systems. 
  • Experience with Agile software practices. 
  • Experience supporting Special Access Program (SAP) efforts. 
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills. 
  • BS in Computer Science or Computer Engineering. Degrees in Engineering, Math, and Physics may qualify with at least 1 year of C++ and/or Python experience. 

Physical Requirements

Adequate visual acuity and manual dexterity for meeting the requirements of the Systems Analyst discipline.
