The Cyber Architect – Level 5 serves as a senior technical authority and trusted advisor responsible for shaping, reviewing, and validating the security architecture of enterprise-level programs. This position requires the ability to bridge commercial sector innovation with the strict regulatory and security controls of the federal environment. The role provides final-level technical review and expert insight, enabling leadership to make informed architectural decisions that balance mission requirements, compliance obligations, and stakeholder constraints.
What You Will Do
- Serve as a senior or final technical reviewer for all cyber architectural designs, ensuring security controls and mission requirements are accurately considered.
Provide subject matter expertise on the integration of emerging technologies, identifying risks, opportunities, and impacts to enterprise security posture. - Engage with outside Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) to evaluate and adapt real-world solutions for federal use, ensuring compatibility with security standards and accreditation requirements.
- Identify, evaluate, and adapt commercial solutions within strict time and budget constraints of primary stakeholders. Conduct formal Analysis of Alternatives (AoA) to assess multiple solution paths, weighing risks, benefits, costs, and opportunity trade-offs for decision-makers.
- Ensure that architectural solutions align with mission objectives while addressing potential compromises to security, compliance, and system performance.
- Inform the Configuration Control Board (CCB) of architectural risks, trade-offs, and impacts to enterprise security without holding direct configuration management responsibilities.
- Collaborate with stakeholders across government, program management, engineering, and cybersecurity teams to ensure architectural coherence and mission alignment.
- Provide guidance and act in a capacity that strengthens the knowledge, skill, and professional growth of junior engineers, analysts, and architects.
What You Must Have
- 15 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; 13 years relevant experience with Masters in related field; 10 years relevant experience with PhD or Juris Doctorate in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 19 years relevant experience.
- Must meet DoD 8140 qualification compliance at IASAE Level III (highest tier).
- Proven ability to map complex commercial solutions to federal security and compliance frameworks.
- Demonstrated success in conducting Analysis of Alternatives (AoA) and delivering recommendations to senior decision-makers.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills to effectively engage with government leaders, program managers, and external OEMs.
- Extensive knowledge of system security engineering, enterprise architecture, risk management, and cyber policy application.
- Competence in coordinating with stakeholders across multiple technical and operational disciplines.
- Must have had an active Top Secret clearance within the last 24 months.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI clearance with relevant SAP/SAR Clearance.
Preferred Requirements
- Professional certifications such as CompTIA Security+ or EC-Council Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH) are desirable.
