Job Description

HII Mission Technologies is seeking a Maintenance Management & Systems Test Engineer to lead integration, testing, and sustainment of the Joint Simulation Environment (JSE) at JITTC‑N, Nellis AFB. This role supports the Air Force Warfare Center by providing on‑site modeling and simulation expertise that enables advanced tactics, training, and test capabilities.

The Systems Test Engineer oversees sitewide JSE architecture maintenance, ensuring high reliability and long‑term sustainment of complex simulation and IT systems. Key responsibilities include managing simulator hardware/software lifecycle support, conducting system integration and testing activities, and producing required Maintenance reports and analytics for government stakeholders.

Essential Job Responsibilities

JSE Maintenance Management & Maintenance Data Reporting
  • Supervise Maintenance Operations: Lead, schedule, and oversee sitewide maintenance operations for JSE system architecture at the JITTC-N Campus, coordinating preventive, corrective, and predictive maintenance.

  • Contract Mx Deliverables: Lead the development, completion, and timely delivery of comprehensive Maintenance (Mx) reports and data deliverables for government stakeholders at JITTC-N, and the Air Force Lifecycle Management Center Training Division (AFLCMC/WNR). Ensure all reports meet government standards and contract specifications.
  • Financial & Operational Insights: Process, validate, and analyze maintenance data to identify trends, failure patterns, and key performance indicators. Translate technical maintenance data into actionable financial and planning insights for spares forecasting, lifecycle sustainment, and budget allocation.
  • Maintenance Tracking & Administration: Manage asset records, equipment histories, work orders, and preventive maintenance schedules within the site's tracking systems to ensure data integrity, maintenance compliance, and seamless program support.
  • Training & Compliance: Train maintenance personnel and system users on standardized maintenance logging workflows, and ensure all activities comply with configuration management procedures, technical orders, and cybersecurity requirements (e.g., NIST 800-53).
System Integration & Test Support
  • External Partner Coordination: Collaborate with external developmental and test agencies (e.g., PAX River) to document integration bugs, analyze software release packages (such as JTB releases), and resolve vetting gaps before operational deployment. Ensure software issues are caught early to safeguard the integrity of operational test environments.
  • Hands-on Maintenance & Calibrations: Install, calibrate, maintain, and repair JSE flight simulator cockpits (electrical, mechanical, and optical components) and associated support computer hardware/software infrastructure.
  • Troubleshooting & Issue Resolution: Investigate, diagnose, and resolve complex integration issues and equipment malfunctions. Remove and replace faulty hardware as required.
  • Simulation Support: Support real-time simulation development, Software-in-the-loop (SIL), and Hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) testing.
Stakeholder Coordination & Program Support
  • Primary Liaison: Serve as the main maintenance liaison for the JSE architecture at the JITTC-N Campus.
  • Cross-functional Collaboration: Collaborate daily with System Administrators, Field Technicians/Engineers, cyber security teams, and program management.
  • Briefing & Reporting: Develop briefing materials and technical documentation regarding simulator readiness, maintenance status, and maintenance schedules.
