Who we are

HII Mission Technologies is seeking a Range Safety Officer to support the Defense Innovation Unit (DIU) at Ft Hunter-Liggett, CA
 
You will coordinate, synchronize, and oversee range operations and coordinate and provide immediate safety response in support of government rapid acquisition and prototype testing for the Defense Innovation Unit (DIU).  

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate and execute flight and ground test events in coordination with all stakeholders.
  • Serve as the first responder to incidents and accidents to include fire suppression, technical rescue surface/subsurface, and medical response.
  • Serve as the individual responsible party for multiple groups of government and civilian stakeholders. 
  • Coordinate ground- and air-space use and deconfliction. 
  • Conduct the operation of air- and ground-vehicles in support of test operations.
  • Certify other DoD and non-DoD personnel as Range Safety Officers.
  • Understand the foundational technical characteristics of the systems being tested, including flight controls, aerodynamics, connectivity, power sources, etc.
  • Excel at mission execution without specific instructions. 
  • Respond positively to chaotic and dynamic situations.
  • Possess excellent social and organizational skills.
  • Function effectively for extended periods of time in austere conditions.
     

What you need to have:

  • Associates Degree or other 2 year technical degree in related discipline and 6 years related experience; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 8 years related experience.
  • 6 years of Range Control Officer (RCO) experience.
  • 2 years of military, expeditionary, medical, or test operations experience. 
  • Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) training.
     

Bonus points for:

  • 5+ years of military, expeditionary, medical, or test operations leadership experience. 
  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in a related field or has equivalent work experience.
  • Certified Range Safety Officer.
  • Certified Emergency Medical Technician.
  • FAA Part 107.
