Job Description

HII Mission Technologies is seeking a Senior Project Engineer to support the United States Postal Service (USPS). This individual will be responsible for USPS machine deployment, relocation projects and support, as well as for customer and field training activities. The work location for this role will be hybrid in Merrifield, VA.

Essential Job Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the deployment, commissioning, validation and support of machines and/or projects.
  • Performs software and hardware troubleshooting.
  • Demonstrate project management skills and technical expertise in industrial control bus topologies, PLC programming, and HMI creation or modifications.
  • Documentation of procedures, customer training and other support activities.
  • This position will require flexibility to travel multiple times a year for the duration of new machine installations, machine relocation and reconfigurations or meeting with vendors.

Minimum Qualifications

  • 5 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; 3 years relevant experience with Masters in related field; 0 years experience with PhD or Juris Doctorate in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 9 years relevant experience.
  • Client education requirements: Bachelor’s degree in a related engineering or technical field is required.
  • Must possess hardware, software, and configuration troubleshooting skills.
  • Demonstrated project management skills along with proficiency in verbal and written communications.
  • Must be willing and able to travel when needed for technical support, meeting with vendors and/or other business reasons.

Client Security Requirements

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a USPS Sensitive Clearance.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen or Green Card holder and have been living in the U.S. for at least the last five years.
  • Must not have traveled outside of the United States for more than 180 days in the last five years.
  • The selected candidate will be subject to a pre-employment background investigation and drug screening per HII and/or client requirements.

Preferred Requirements

  • An active security clearance is preferred. 
  • Familiarity with postal (USPS) processes and procedures is preferred.
