Job Description

 

HII Mission Technologies is seeking a Solution Architect to assist with the design and development of innovative, executable solutions in response to U.S. defense and federal customer requirements. This position will be based out of our McLean, VA office. This role bridges business development, capture, proposal and operations teams, to ensure solutions are technically sound, competitively differentiated, and aligned with mission outcomes. The architect will be responsible for utilizing, expanding and implementing HII’s AI tool application to our mission, while providing direct mission support to the WS Team.

 

Hourly Pay Range: $24-28
 

Essential Job Responsibilities

 

  • Solution Development Framework Execution
      • Assist requirement analysis and decomposition for complex federal opportunities.
      • Translate customer mission needs into actionable technical and management architectures.
      • Assist with the development of solution concepts, trade-off analyses, and recommend approaches.
  • Capture & Proposal Integration
      • Align solutions with capture strategies, win themes, and discriminators.
      • Collaborate with proposal managers to ensure compliance and compelling narratives.
      • Support oral presentations, demonstrations, and customer engagements.
  • Technical Leadership
      • Assist with the development of the technical vision for a proposal solution.
      • Ensure solutions meet open architecture, cybersecurity, and interoperability standards.
      • Assist in the performing gap analyses and research/recommend subcontractor and vendor options to fill gaps.
      • Assist with risk assessments and help develop mitigation strategies.
      • Review and validate solution designs from other team members.
  • Collaboration & Teaming
      • Partner with business development, capture management, operations (e.g., engineering, program management), and subcontractors to integrate capabilities.
      • Represent the company in customer and industry forums.

Minimum Qualifications

 

  • Ability to learn and understand DoD acquisition processes, requirements analysis, and compliance standards.
  • Strong communication skills — able to translate technical solutions into compelling business narratives.
  • Candidate that can be considered for reg FT employment, at the conclusion of the internship.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent + Must be working towards a Bachelor's or Master's degree with between 40% and 60% of the required credits completed.
    • Education transcript verification required along with full background check

  • On-site work environment: combination of on-site at corporate offices, customer sites.
  • Frequent collaboration with cross-functional teams (capture, proposal, engineering, program management).
  • Fast-paced environment with tight deadlines aligned to federal acquisition cycles.
  • Must be able to work extended hours during critical proposal development phases.
 
Physical Requirements: 
 
  • Ability to work in a standard office environment, both onsite and remotely.
  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position (e.g., sitting or standing) for extended periods while working on a computer.
  • Ability to operate a computer and other office equipment (keyboard, mouse, phone, printer).
  • Ability to communicate effectively in person and via virtual platforms.
